TV-Cap: Emma Caulfield Joins SUPERGIRL as Cameron Chase

How is it already Thursday? I’m not sure how it happened, but I’ll roll with it and keep things going with a brand new edition of TV-Cap. Today’s round-up includes news about Emma Caulfield joining Supergirl, Ken Marino coming to Agent Carter, an update on The Muppets’ showrunner, and a clip from next week’s The Flash—it looks to be full of Zoom.

Ruthless, Not a Demon. Emma Caulfield will be appearing CBS’ Supergirl. You probably know Caulfield from her turn as Anya on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Here, she’ll play FBI agent Cameron Chase. The character is pulled from the comics but adapted for the series. Warner Bros. describes Chase thusly: “After her father’s violent murder, Cameron Chase decided to dedicate her life to law enforcement. Now a stern, no holds barred FBI agent, Chase’s weapons of choice are manipulation and manpower. With little sympathy, and plenty of suspicions, she pursues her targets with ruthless determination.” I think Caulfield can excel at ruthless. [The Mary Sue]

The Bunker and the Colt. I recently visited the set of The CW’s Supernatural, and as a fan of the series, I flailed. Repeatedly. I kept it all inside for the sake of being a professional (well, until I met Baby), and to help me keep calm, I took a ton of photos of the sets and props. You can view them all right this way.

Marino in the Mafia. Peggy Carter will have all sorts of problems once Season 2 of Agent Carter arrives. One of those problems will be named Joseph Manfredi. Marvel says Manfredi is a leader of the Maggia crime syndicate, and he’ll be helping Peggy’s enemies further their agendas. And the best part? He’ll be played by none other than Ken Marino. Bless. Emotional Currency. Starz has a new anthology series on the horizon, and it’s produced by Steven Soderbergh. The Girlfriend Experience will premiere in 2016. The trailer introduces us to Christine Reade (Riley Keough), a law student who learns about the world of transactional relationships and the money involved.

Hellblazer and the Arrow. Matt Ryan reprised his role as John Constantine on Wednesday’s Arrow. He stopped in to help his old pal Oliver with Sara. Deadline talked to Marc about bringing Constantine into the picture, whether Ryan will be back, and the upcoming Arrow and The Flash crossover. Read the interview here.

Another Agent. Twin Peaks might be gaining another returning cast member. Deadline reports that Miguel Ferrer has agreed to come back as the grumpy Agent Albert Rosenfield. [TVLine]

Relaunching the Relaunch. ABC’s The Muppets has received a full season order, but changes are on the way. Showrunner Bob Kushell has stepped down, and they’re looking for someone else to take over for the back half of the season. Deadline reports Kristin Newman is in negotiations to come in as his replacement and that regardless of who takes the reins, it “will likely be treated as a relaunch.” Interesting. I wonder if they’ll do away with the mockumentary style entirely? [Comic Book Resources]

Let There Be Light. The Flash has introduced Gorilla Grodd and King Shark. What can’t this series do? The most recent episode, “The Darkness and the Light,” brought in Doctor Light and explored the return of Harrison Wells. Read Joseph McCabe’s review.

Trapping Zoom. Yikes. Team Flash isn’t wasting time. Next week’s episode will see them try to trap Zoom and get the nasty speedster problem off their plate. A clip for the next episode of The Flash shows that their plan may not be flawless. [Comic Book Resources]

Are you on board with Emma Caulfield as Cameron Chase? What did you think about Constantine’s appearance on Arrow? Let me know in the comments.
