TV-Cap: Dominic Cooper Confirmed for PREACHER, STAR WARS REBELS Season 2 Trailer, & More

Hey, Monday’s here. Yay? I’m coming off four days at the best convention ever, Star Wars Celebration, and I’m not ready to face a world where I won’t see Jedi cosplayers around every corner. To cheer myself up, I’ll be watching the new trailers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rogue One, and Star Wars Rebels on repeat. A girl’s got to do what a girl’s go to do. Before I dive into my constant Star Wars loop, let’s talk TV news. There’s the aforementioned Rebels trailer, some news about the lead character in Preacher, an interview with Jon Stewart about why he left The Daily Show, and more.

Vader In Da House. Star Wars fans are so spoiled right now. Not only did we get new film trailers over the weekend, we saw a new trailer for Season 2 of Star Wars Rebels and let me tell you, it’s on equal footing with the teaser for The Force Awakens. The trailer shows they aren’t kidding around—Darth Vader, the Emperor, Captain Rex, Ahsoka, and of course, our Ghost crew. It’s an intense time in the galaxy, and the high stakes are apparent in this footage. Ahhhh! [StarWars.com]

Clone City. The wait is over, sestras. Orphan Black returned and as usual, it didn’t pull any punches. We were thrown back into the struggles of the clones we love so much and learned more about those disturbing Castor clones. Relive the Season 3 premiere with Alicia’s recap.

Officially a Preacher. If you’ve been wanting to see Dominic Cooper in all the things (and why wouldn’t you?), you’re about to get happier. The actor known for his work in the Marvel universe is tackling a different sort of comic book adaptation—Preacher. Cooper will play Jesse Custer, the lead character in the series based on the comic by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon. I look forward to seeing what Cooper does with the role. [CBR]

Not Your Average Assistant. Foggy Nelson and Matt Murdock lucked out when Karen Page hired herself to be their office manager in Daredevil. Deborah Ann Woll shined in the role and was successful in translating the character from the comics to TV. Our own Dan Casey spoke with her about the tone of the series, Netflix, and more. Read the interview.

It’s a Mystery. Marvel is never going to slow down. With the recent smashing success of Daredevil, the future is looking brighter than ever. Example? ABC is reportedly working with Oscar-winning producer John Ridley to develop a new Marvel series that’s a reinvention of an existing Marvel property. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Time to Go. The Daily Show won’t be the same without Jon Stewart, but all good things, etc. Many things factored into Stewart’s decision to depart the show, and he spoke to The Guardian about them. His rationale includes reasons many of us leave jobs: fatigue, lack of fulfillment, and even depression. [Deadline]

Worst Trial Ever. Outlander continues to impress me, and Saturday’s episode was yet another entry in the “Why isn’t everyone watching this series?” column. Geillis and Claire were put on trial for witchcraft, and the proceedings take a disturbing turn that leads to Geillis’s secrets being uncovered. Get all the details in Alicia’s recap of the “The Devil’s Mark.”

No More Eye Candy. Victoria Justice has announced her series Eye Candy has been canceled after one season. The MTV series was based on a book by R.L. Stine and had a 10-episode first season. [Variety]
