I think there’s only one thing I really need to say about television today, and it rhymes with Schmoctor Schmoo. (I’m terrible at rhyming.) The first trailer for Series 9 of Doctor Who has arrived, and it’s drawing me back into the TARDIS. See said trailer in today’s TV-Cap as well as images from The Walking Dead, an interview with Peter Capaldi, a trailer for the Sherlock Christmas special, and more!
More Running. BBC brought the Twelfth Doctor to Comic-Con on Thursday, and they didn’t hold back. They announced Series 9 will premiere on September 19 and they showed the first trailer for the upcoming episodes. As usual with Doctor Who, there’s a fair amount of running. My favorite part of the trailer though? A peek at Maisie Williams’s guest role. I want to know more! [/Film]
Visiting the Doctor. While we’re on the subject of time and space, let’s sit down for a one-on-one chat with Peter Capaldi. The Twelfth Doctor paused to talk with Dan Casey about LEGO Dimensions, Doctor Who, and his first trip to Comic-Con. Yeah, it’s basically the best. [Nerdist]
A Slight Delay. It takes time to brew a proper cup of damn fine coffee and to make an equally damn fine television series. That’s my way of saying the Twin Peaks revival is apparently going to be delayed. Series co-creator Mark Frost said the dive back into the bizarre universe will be coming to Showtime in 2017 rather than 2016. Frost was visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum when he said, “Weâve finished the scripts, we start production in September, and that will be coming out on Showtime sometime in 2017.” Showtime has neither confirmed or denied this timeline yet. Giddy-Up. In the midst of all the nerdy goodies rolling out of Comic-Con, I have to share this interesting development: remember that Urban Cowboy TV adaptation? It’s riding forward. Fox has ordered a pilot for a modern spin on the 1980 film; it will be written and directed by Craig Brewer. [Variety]
Shut up everybody, shut up! Don't move, don't speak, don't breathe. A new #Sherlock Special image has landed… pic.twitter.com/ZoCX8P4S9S

Happy Holidays! I don’t care if it’s July and Christmas is months away, I’m ready to think about the holiday because of Sherlock. The first trailer for the Sherlock Christmas special has been released, and it is so delightfully Victorian that I can barely handle it. Watson’s mustache is a masterpiece. God bless us, everyone. [Nerdist]
Ha. Ha. Ha. When Cameron Monaghan’s character Jerome appeared on the first season of Gotham, it was assumed he was The Joker. A tease for his initial appearance certainly hinted at it as did his story on the series, and now, Monaghan’s posted an awfully suggestive photo on his Instagram feed. Look at that smile — very Joker-esque, no? Do you think he’s playing the popular Bat-villain? [Comic Book Resources]
Doof It Up. Conan is filming from San Diego at the moment to celebrate the glory that is Comic-Con, and the show arrived in style. Host Conan O’Brien traveled by way of Mad Max: Fury Road and became the Doof Warrior. Flaming guitars are so in this season. [/Film]
All the Craziness. MTV gave fans of Teen Wolf some great news at Comic-Con: the supernatural show has been renewed for Season 6. And since the show is currently in the middle of Season 5, they brought a fancy new look ahead to give you an idea of the drama on the horizon for Beacon Hills. [TV Fanatic]
On the Other Side. The world premiere of the trailer for Season 6 of The Walking Dead is coming today — probably during the panel for the series at Comic-Con. But, to help get you through until then, please take a look at some very dramatic photos showing the cast and some walkers in uncomfortably close quarters. It’s a reminder that they’re only a step away from disaster at any given time. [Comic Book Resources]
Rolling Out. Sometimes announcements come from unlikely places at Comic-Con. Case in point: Hasbro, a licensee for Transformers, announced that they’re working with Machinima on a whole new animated series set during the Combiner Wars storyline. Not so coincidentally, Hasbro is releasing some cool toys to go with it. [Nerdist]
