TV-Cap: Bryan Cranston to Lead Philip K. Dick Television Series

The middle of this week is anything but boring when it comes to the department of television news. We have some ground to cover, so let’s jump right into TV-Cap. Keep reading to learn more about Bryan Cranston starring in a Philip K. Dick TV series, to find out which Game of Thrones actress has been cast in The White Princess, to get some scoops from Outlander and Supernatural cast members, and more.

We’re So Ready. Britain’s Channel 4 and Sony Pictures Television are teaming up for quite the ambitious project: Electric Dreams: The World of Philip K. Dick. The series will turn Dick’s short stories into hour-long episodes. And are you ready for the line-up? Bryan Cranston will star and executive produce, Ronald D. Moore will also executive produce, and Michael Dinner is on board as the writer. I’m on board with all of these things. [Nerdist]

Let’s Rewind. Why was the recent flashback in the Game of Thrones episode “Oathbreaker” so important? For one thing, it illustrated that Ned Stark is maybe not quite the man we thought he was. Series showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss discuss that and other elements from the episode in the above behind-the-scenes video. [Nerdist]

Oh Boy. Jamie Fraser was elated to learn about Jack Randall being alive, but in the most recent episode of Outlander, he was confronted with his enemy when he wasn’t expecting it. What was that like? Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, and Tobias Menzies talked to Alicia about it. Read the interview right this way.

Have Some Series. Fox has placed the rest of its new series orders, and the list includes The Exorcist and Lethal Weapon. Get the scoop on what else they picked up at Deadline.

Reborn. Strange has brought Fish Mooney back, and a promo for the penultimate episode of season two of Gotham shows she’s as fierce and feisty as ever. [Comic Book Resources]

Just In Time. The real identity of Chuck Shurley was unveiled on last Wednesday’s Supernatural. Let’s just say he’s more than the prophet of God. I spoke with actor Rob Benedict about the reveal and what’s next. Read his comments here at Nerdist.

Warning: The next tidbit has spoilers from the most recent Once Upon a Time.

A Bitter End. Sunday’s Once Upon a Time, titled “Last Rites,” saw the end of a fan favorite character. Robin (Sean Maguire) was killed by Hades; he sacrificed himself for Regina. Maguire spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the twist and wasn’t super thrilled. He said, “I felt like it was an abrupt end; I didn’t feel the character had any development this year and wasn’t really written for.” D’oh. Read the complete interview at THR.

What Does It Mean? Let’s return to that flashback on Game of Thrones. Another interesting point about Bran’s vision is that his father was seemingly able to hear Bran speak to him. Does that mean Bran is developing special abilities? Jessica Chobot breaks it down in the above installment of Nerdist News. [Nerdist]

The Fairest. Catelyn Stark is making the jump to a different series–er, the actress who played her is. Michelle Fairley has been cast as Margaret Beaufort in Starz’s The White Princess. [TVLine]

Robots Are Back. “The Gears Awaken” BattleBots special aired last night, and the competition was intense. If you need more of fighting robots in your life, watch the above video to see Kyle go behind the scenes and talk to guest judge Clark Gregg. [Nerdist]

Lost. Barry got caught up in the Speed Force in Tuesday night’s The Flash, and while he was there, he experienced some self discovery and faced some demons. Read Joseph’s review of “The Runaway Dinosaur.”

Did “Oathbreaker” change your opinion of Ned Stark at all? Were you upset about Robin on Once Upon a Time? Talk to me in the comments.
