TV-Cap: BROADCHURCH Gets Third Season, Everything Ron Swanson Has Eaten on PARKS & REC, Calista Flockhart on SUPERGIRL, & More

Today is Tuesday, and it’s a rough one. Tonight brings the series finale of Parks and Recreation and the season one finale of Marvel’s Agent Carter. Actually, if Agent Carter doesn’t get renewed, it could be the series finale. But we’re not going to think about that because no one needs to cry. Let’s distract ourselves instead. Read on to find about the Broadchurch renewal, an addition to the Supergirl cast, a House of Cards parody, and more.

More Broadchurch. ITV has commissioned another season of the drama Broadchurch. David Tennant and Olivia Colman are confirmed to return as Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller for a third season of the mystery. Now that the trial has wrapped for the murder of Danny Latimer and Hardy and Miller have solved the Sandbrook case, the door is open to tackle new territory. [ITV]

Supergirl’s Boss. CBS’s Supergirl has gained another cast member. They’ve added Catherine “Cat” Grant; she’s the founder of CatCo and Kara’s boss. The successful businessperson will be portrayed by Calista Flockhart. [Nerdist]

Bloom No More. Orange Is the New Black is set to return in June, but it will do so without at least one cast member. Netflix has confirmed Larry Bloom, Piper’s ex, will not be part of season three so Jason Biggs will not be around. Biggs told the New York Daily News, “They’re not focusing on Larry at the moment. Larry will not be in season three. But there’s always a possibility he can come back.” [IGN]

Item 17. Oh, Howard Stark. Only he can waltz into an intense situation at the S.S.R., insult their security systems, and turn it into a humblebrag. Okay, just a brag. Stark returns to Marvel’s Agent Carter tonight for the season finale. He has to work with the S.S.R. to track Dr. Ivchenko/Fennhoff and Dottie and stop them from using the rest of the deadly Item 17. Emma Gone Rogue? A new teaser for Once Upon a Time aired during the Oscars, and it hints at a turn for the savior, Emma Swan. She’s shown standing alongside the Queens of Darkness and looking rather pleased about it. Is it a legitimate flop or just a possibility imagined by Rumplestiltskin? I don’t trust anything he touches so… Watch the clip right here on Nerdist.

Ambition On Sesame Street. What happens when the world of House of Cards visits the world of Sesame Street? Hilarity. Frank Underwolf tells the story of the “Three Little Pigs” and manages to use the tale to make comments about the United States government. I think Underwolf would get along splendidly with Frank Underwood. Watch the parody.

Not So Funny. And now for a House of Cards video that isn’t a parody. Netflix has released a new trailer for season three of House of Cards, and the word I’d use to describe it is fierce. And icy. No one seems even a little happy. Politics are serious business. [Vulture]

Going Cuckoo. NBC’s comedy pilot Cuckoo has found its lead: YouTube personality and Pitch Perfect 2 star Flula Borg has nabbed the title role – literally the title role since the character’s name is Cuckoo. The pilot is an adaptation of the British sitcom of the same name and follows the same plot: A daughter of a middle-class family returns from a summer overseas with a new eccentric husband named Cuckoo. So Much Meat. As a recent Parks and Recreation convert, I bow to the dietary decisions of Ron Swanson. His reverent attitude towards meat is a beautiful thing. If you’ve ever wondered about all the food Swanson has chowed down on over the years, you can put your mind at ease. Vulture has a slideshow that goes through each dish… and now I’m suddenly starving.

If you could eat like Ron Swanson for a day, what would be on your menu? Let me know in the comments.
