TV-Cap: ARROW Teaser Shows a Trip to the Lazarus Pit, Terry Crews Lip Syncs GOLDEN GIRLS Theme, & More

It’s Friday! And it’s not only Friday, it’s the day after a new teaser was released for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I haven’t even come close to watching it enough times yet. That last scene? So. Good. And since that teaser dropped yesterday, other news apparently took a backseat. Any announcements made yesterday would have just been lost in the Force. Still, I have a few tidbits for you. Watch a new trailer for Arrow, find out how you can watch Season 1 of Orphan Black for free today, and more.

The Lazarus Pit. One of these days I want to see Team Arrow have a happy day where nothing goes wrong. It’s not going to happen in next week’s episode of Arrow though. A clip for “The Fallen” shows that Oliver and company are going back to Nanda Parbat to use Ra’s al Ghul’s Lazarus Pit. Given that he wants Oliver to replace him, this could give him the upper hand he needs. [CBR] See photos from the episode at TV Fanatic.

Sex and the City but Not. If you have a Carrie-shaped hole in your heart, Sarah Jessica Parker’s new show on HBO might help fill it. The series titled Divorce starts Parker in the leading role, and she plays a character going through a “very, very long divorce” opposite of Thomas Hayden Church. The single-cam comedy takes place in New York City. [Vulture]

Gather ‘Round, Sestras! One more day until Orphan Black. Ahhhhhh! Clones, laughs, mysteries, more. If you’re not in the mood yet, let us help. Jenn has put together a fantastic round-up of home decor from the Dyad Institute (kind of) in her latest Home Geekonomics, and if you want to relive the first season, you can watch it for free today. Amazon Instant Video is offering Season 1 of Orphan Black for free to everyone until 11:59pm PT tonight. You have our permission to clear your schedule. [Nerdist]

Heading to Oz. Turn your feet towards the nearest yellow brick road because Emerald City is coming back to NBC. It’s like Oz himself stepped in and intervened. The Wizard of Oz-inspired drama previously had a 10 episode order, but NBC dropped it. Now though, new writer and executive producer David Schulner has redeveloped the series and NBC is moving forward again. NBC explains the show thusly: “In the blink of a tornado’s eye, 20-year-old Dorothy Gale and her K9 police dog are transported to another world, one far removed from our own — a mystical land of competing kingdoms, lethal warriors, dark magic and a bloody battle for supremacy. This is the fabled Land of Oz in a way you’ve never seen before, where wicked witches don’t stay dead for long and a young girl becomes a headstrong warrior who holds the fate of kingdoms in her hands.” I’m generally not the biggest fan of Oz stories but this… this sounds like it has legs. And hopefully flying monkeys. [Deadline]

Backstory for May. Ming-Na Wen’s Melinda May is one of the best parts of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and this week’s episode explored her past. “Melinda” showed what helped shape the kickass agent we’ve come to know, and Joseph has all the details in his recap.

More Cases for Castle? Rick Castle and Detective Beckett could keep solving crimes for another season. ABC hasn’t officially announced a renewal for Castle, but Nathan Fillion has agreed to return if it is picked up and that certainly doesn’t hurt their chances. If they get Season 8, they’ll have to find a new showrunner though because David Amann has stepped down. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Thank You for Being a Friend. Get ready to have various television themes stuck in your head all day long. Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) lip-synced a string of them at the TV Land Awards and had a wonderful moment where he “serenaded” Betty White with the Golden Girls theme song. You can watch the performance during the event on Saturday at 9:00pm PT on TV Land. [Nerdist]
