TV-Cap: AMERICAN GODS Casts Shadow Moon and More

Friday is here, friends. We made it. The end of the week brings a pile of television news, so let’s jump in. Keep reading today’s TV-Cap to find about who Starz has chosen to play the lead in American Gods, to discover who will portray Brianna in Outlander, to read about an upgrade for Diggle on Arrow, and much more.

Reunions-ish. The 100 finally brought some of our favorite characters back together. But, because it is The 100, those reunions didn’t happen against a sunny, sparkly background. The road was hard. Read Sydney’s full recap of “Wanheda: Part Two.”

Pending Makeover. Diggle needed a disguise of some sort on Arrow, but the helmet they came up with for season four is… interesting. It does look better in action than in still photos, but it could use a touch of Edna Mode. Luckily, the Arrow-verse has that with Cisco. David Ramsey confirmed the STAR Labs crew is indeed working on an upgrade for Diggle’s helmet. Ramsey hasn’t seen it yet though. [Comic Book Resources, Image: The CW]

Casting Perfection. Starz’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods has found its lead. Ricky Whittle (The 100) will play Shadow Moon. Shadow gets a job with a man named Mr. Wednesday, learns Wednesday is actually Odin–yes, that Odin, and goes on a fascinating road trip across the United States and encounters way cooler things than the biggest ball of twine. Walkers Up Close and Personal. James Lipton’s Inside the Actors Studio made a special excursion to Georgia to visit the set of AMC’s The Walking Dead. Lipton talked with the cast (including Norman Reedus and Lauren Cohan) about their beginnings, their time on the show, and more. The show will air on Bravo on February 11. [Variety]

TL;DR. Esquire Network recently debuted their television adaptation of Beowulf–on January 23 to be precise. The 13-episode drama stars Kieran Bew and also features William Hurt. If you’re feeling a little rusty on your Beowulf knowledge, Dan has you covered in the latest episode of The Dan Cave, embedded above. [Nerdist]

Leaping Ahead. Legends of Tomorrow is jumping all over the timeline, and as they do, they’ll encounter familiar faces. When Arrow’s Oliver Queen returns to the series in a few weeks, it will be Stephen Amell in the role, but he’ll be a much older version of the character. If you want more spoilery details and to know how this connects to The Dark Knight Returns comics, head right this way.

Hello, Goodbye. Season four of House of Cards hasn’t premiered on Netflix yet (that’s happening on March 4), but the streaming service has gone ahead and given the greenlight to season five. Now, for the goodbye: showrunner Beau Willimon is departing the political drama in order to focus on penning an original play. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Continuing Showdown. The standoff of sorts between Stephen Amell and Stardust has been an entertaining one and a fun crossover between comic book TV and wrestling. The duo has faced off in the ring, and now, they’re teaming up for charity. Read more at Nerdist.

What’s Next? American Horror Story has focused on different themes and settings in each of its seasons, and the topic of season six hasn’t been announced. However, a source for US Magazine thinks it will involve Slender Man. Jessica Chobot breaks the possibility down for the latest Nerdist News. [Nerdist]

Warning: Spoilers are ahead for Outlander.

An Important Lass. Apparently it’s a week of Starz casting news. Starz has found the redhead they’ve been looking for to play Brianna in Outlander. Sophie Skelton will step into the role in season two. As those who have read the novels know, she’s the daughter of Jamie and Claire. She has quite the interesting upbringing which I can’t wait to see non-book readers react to. [Nerdist]

Did you watch last night’s The 100? If so, how are you holding up? It’s a question that must be asked after every episode of The 100. Talk to me in the comments.
