We are mostly through the week, and everything is looking bright and sunny. To be honest, I’m still on a high from learning about American Gods finally moving forward. But that was yesterday, and this is today. Let’s talk about some new news. Keep reading to find about another returning guest for American Horror Story: Hotel, Aaron Paul’s new gig, a Netflix comedy that will follow a whole new release schedule, and more.

A Return Guest. Mr. Dandy Mott is joining the guests for American Horror Story: Hotel. Finn Wittrock will check into the next season of the anthology series and as co-creator Ryan Murphy hints at, Lady Gaga’s character will be choosing between Wittrock and Matt Bomer. (Dear Lady Gaga: My vote is for Bomer). [Ryan Murphy]
A Nicer Randall. The thought of anyone as awful as Black Jack Randall having a brother isn’t encouraging, but don’t worry, Alex Randall is nice and sweet. The kinder Randall sibling has been cast for Season 2 of Outlander; he’ll be played by Laurence Dobiesz. It’s important for the actor to look like Tobias Menzies because Jamie and Claire mistake him for Jack at first, and I think Dobiesz more than meets that qualification. Alex works for Duke of Sandringham, a character we met in Season 1. [TV Fanatic;Â image via Outlander on Twitter]
A Happy Reunion. Kelso and Hyde from That ’70s Show are on board to helm a comedy for Netflix. Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson will team up for The Ranch, a show about brothers who run the family business. That business is a Colorado ranch. Does this make anyone else have nostalgic feelings about City Slickers? No? The comedy will be the first series to follow Netflix’s new streaming model. The first season will have 20 episodes, but instead of them all being released at the same time, they’ll be split into two batches of 10. [Vulture]
Changing the Story. Ray Donovan has cleaned up a lot of blood in two seasons, and that’s not changing in Season 3. He’s working for Ian McShane’s Andrew Finney and that means looking after his daughter Paige, played by Katie Holmes. In addition to his work, he’s getting a little beat up. It’s a job hazard. Season 3 of Ray Donovan will premiere on July 12. [TVLine]
A New Investigation. Secrets and Lies focuses on a new case each season, and Season 2 has added Michael Ealy to the roster. He’ll star alongside Juliette Lewis (Detective Andrea Cornell) in the mystery as Eric Warner. A put-together man about to inherit his family’s business, Warner’s life is sidetracked when his wife Kate is killed. The next season will drop on ABC in midseason. [Deadline]
Mom Problems. Rumplestiltskin didn’t become the way he is without an interesting backstory. The villain was influenced by his father’s actions to some degree, and it sounds like we might see what his relationship with his mother was like. Once Upon a Time is apparently casting the role of Rumple’s mom Evanna for a Season 5 episode. According to TVLine, Once is looking for an actress in her mid-20s to early-30s who is “stunningly beautiful” and can do a Scottish accent. She sounds like a younger version of Rowena from Supernatural. Who would you choose for this role? [TVLine]
Relive the Heroics. Do you feel a burning need to watch the first season of The Flash and the third season of Arrow over and over again? I plan to watch every Captain Cold scene on repeat. Luckily, the DVD and Blu-ray sets for both series will be available on September 22 with episodes, featurettes, commentaries, and gag reels. They’ll be hitting shelves in a flash–yeah, I went there.
A Convert. Hulu’s lining up original programming, and the drama The Way is on the list. They’ve already cast Michelle Monaghan (True Detective) as one of the leads, and now they’ve added Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad). He’s won three Emmy awards, you know, no big deal. Paul will be playing Eddie Cleary (wife to Monaghan’s Sarah), “a convert to a controversial movement with a wayward past. He’s a husband and father who suffers a crisis of faith when all that he’s come to accept as truth in his life is fundamentally challenged.” The Way will debut this winter.
Hair of the Dog. HBO’s brewing up a mix of politics, crises, and laughs with The Brink, and two clips from the first episode having me feeling optimistic. Sure, it’s only 60 seconds from a 30-minute show, but if the tone matches these clips? We’re golden. Plus the combo of Tim Robbins and Jack Black is pretty darn appealing. The series premieres on June 21.
Are you looking forward to seeing The Way? Was it on your radar before Aaron Paul? Let me know in the comments.
