It’s Friday, TV obsessives! And as if that weren’t enough of a reason to celebrate — there is, after all, SO MUCH television going on this weekend, including the returns of The Newsroom and The Comeback on HBO — now we’ve got a ton more news for you. Like the announcement that Showtime is doing a standalone service, a new behind-the-scenes Better Call Saul featurette, and a few more premiere dates for Girls, Looking, and Togetherness.

Behind the Saul: Why can’t we have more Better Call Saul? Why must we wait so long for the thing we all want very much? And why, if the series is such a standalone from Breaking Bad, must they spend 90% of this video just talking about Breaking Bad? I mean we all love Breaking Bad but, jeez, c’mon AMC. Oh and Orphan Black fans will like this because we get our first shot of Michael “Vic the Dick” Mando as Nacho, so that’s fun.

More Downton‘s Comin’ Upton: Har har har, we’re just the cleverest (we’re not). HBO Sets Some Debuts: Girls and Looking will make their return alongside the debut of the Duplass brothers’ first foray into television, Togetherness, back-to-back (to back!) on Sunday, January 11th, starting at 9:00PM (ET/PT). Huzzah!
Oh and: here’s a quick synopsis of Togetherness for all you folks who are curious — “The show follows two couples living under one roof on the fringes of Los Angeles. Brett and Michelle (Mark Duplass, Melanie Lynskey) are struggling to rekindle the spark in their relationship, which has puttered out from the stresses of marriage and children. When Brett’s friend Alex (Steve Zissis) and Michelle’s sister Tina (Amanda Peet) move in with them, the foursome engage in a tragically comedic struggle to follow their personal dreams, while still remaining good friends, siblings and spouses to each other.”

Showtime Goes it Alone: And by that we mean standalone, of course! Just like HBO and CBS before it, the network will offer a standalone streaming service for all you folks out there that are slowly but surely cutting that cable cord.
