Isn’t it great how True Detective is the happiest show on TV? It’s so refreshing to find something so light and airy to tune into, considering all the epic anti-hero business going on around on television these days. Nic Pizzolatto’s bright and sunshine-y outlook has always been the standout feature of the series â previously embodied by Matthew McConaughey’s bubblebucket of a human, Rust Cohle. And this latest bit of marketing ephemera is no different, shining a light on just how awesome and happy the world is right now.
EXCEPTOHWAITNO. The existential dread parade that is the HBO series is going full-tilt into its promotional push in advance of its June 21st return to the small screen fold, and these motion posters are a very real reminder that everything is awful and people are terrible and we have no one to blame but ourselves for these modern times.
