Trailer for Jordan Peele’s Horror Film GET OUT Features Lots of Creepy White People

To say our interests were piqued when we first learned that Jordan Peele was writing and directing his own horror movie would be an understatement. We’re huge fans of him and his work, but we’re used to him making us laugh, like on Key & Peele, so we had no idea what it might look like when he tried to scare us, but we wanted to find out.

Well if we were merely interested in what he had to offer before, now that we’ve seen the first trailer for the film, titled Get Out, we’re absolutely psyched for it. Especially since it is full of so many psychotic rich white people.

Universal Pictures released the film’s first trailer today, and it is full of the kind of social awareness and commentary that was a hallmark of Key & Peele. The movie tells the story of Charlie, played by Daniel Kaluuya, who is black, going to meet his white girlfriend Rose’s (Allison Williams) well-to-do parents (played by Catherine Keener and a super creepy looking Bradley Whitford) for the first time.

However, the awkward kindness Charlie is greeted with quickly grows more sinister, as he encounters other black residents of the estate who are acting strangely, and that’s before his friend tells him that the area has had more than a few other African-Americans go missing.

This is just our first look, but the obvious themes of racial fears, oppression, and the killing of young African-Americans are hard to miss. However, even beyond the fact that this is clearly a horror movie that has something important to say, this trailer is pretty freaking creepy too. Rich white people that smile all the time are unnerving even without all the hypnotism and killing.

We were already interested in what kind of horror movie we would get from Jordan Peele, and now that we’ve got a sneak peak we can’t wait until it hits theaters on February 24 of next year.

What did you think of this trailer? Did it creep you out too? What obvious social issues stood out? Get your thoughts out in our comments before.
