Toys’R’Us Reveals Epic SDCC Exclusive STAR WARS Rancor Pit Set

The exclusivity of this set has us turning Greedo green with jealousy! Toys ‘R’ Us put out a press release earlier today informing collectors and fans alike of the upcoming Comic-Con exclusive Star Wars figure set; and of particular interest to avid toy and action figure collectors, they also included news of their upcoming “Collector Vector” shop.

First off, the Jabba’s Rancor Pit set–taken from the iconic scene in Return of the Jedi–looks pretty awesome. The Rancor figure itself stands much taller than the character figures, which are in line with Hasbro’s classic Star Wars figure height of 3.75 inches. The aforementioned 3.75″ character figures include Princess Leia Organa in slave costume (check out this Funko figure for a great non-slave Leia option), C-3PO, Luke Skywalker, and a Gammorean guard. Jabba the Hutt gets a little extra Hutt height at 6 inches. The set will be an exclusive to Comic-Con attendees in a few weeks time, but will come to all Toys ‘R’ Us stores later this year, so don’t feel left out!

In the same press release, Toys ‘R’ Us debuted news of their upcoming “Collector Vector” online destination:

In conjunction with Comic Convention, Toys“R”Us has introduced a new shop titled, “Collector Vector,” dedicated to collectible action figures, playsets and more for the mature collector community, available now in its stores nationwide and Toysrus.com. This specially designated destination features nearly 100 highly sought-after collectibles from industry leading manufacturers, including Bandai, Diamond Select™, Mezco Toyz, McFarlane Toys and NECA, among others, as well as items based on hit properties, such as BATMAN™, Godzilla, Sons of Anarchy, Predator, The Walking Dead and more. The company’s new digital “Collector Vector” hub, available online at Toysrus.com, features hundreds of additional product options, including items customers can’t find anywhere else.

With Toys ‘R’ Us being a leading toy merchant, this should be seen as a smart move, especially in light of the awkward Breaking Bad petition snafu last year that saw the retailer cave to removing action figures from their stores.

What say you, fine folk: are you going to be picking one of these killer sets up to recreate your own Rancor pit battles?
