Tony Hawk Skates on Mars, the Moon, and at Zero Gravity

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 is arguably the best skateboarding video game ever made (I say arguably because I am only using the basis that I LOVE it to make the claim). Twisting and turning through the different environments, the game lets you do moves and jumps that break more laws of physics than Captain America’s shield. But what if there was a way you could do those insane video games moves in real life?

Well, the man himself, Tony Hawk, has found a way, in a sense. He and pro skateboarder Aaron “Jaws” Homoki took to the skies with GoZeroG.com and skateboarded at zero gravity. The whole experience was filmed on Sony 4K cameras and posted on their YouTube page.

The ZeroG experience takes you through different flight paths, with each causing a different stage of weightlessness. The first path simulated Martian gravity, which causes you to feel one third of your body weight. The next one simulated Lunar gravity: one sixth of your body weight. The final group of paths gave them total weightlessness.

While it was obvious they were having a blast, they did comment on how disorienting it was. Tony said he had no sense of direction when he became weightless. He and Aaron both had a checklist of “impossible” tricks they were going to try, but when they started floating, it became more about the experience than anything else. All I want to know is, who can lend me money, and where do I sign up?

So what do you think? What would YOU do if you had the advantage of Zero Gravity? Try to fly? Vomit all over the place? Let me know on Twitter or sound off in the comments below. And hey, if you yourself want to feel like you’re on Mars, but maybe aren’t that strong a skater…
