This TOM HARDY Wax Figure’s Beating Heart Will Melt Yours

Hollywood gets bombarded with tourists every year, as people from all over walk around Hollywood Boulevard to see if they can get a glimpse of their favorite celebrity. But not everyone can make it to the U.S., and if they can’t get the real thing, Madame Tussaud’s wax museum in London is a great alternative. Did you want to see Taylor Swift? What about Arnold Schwarzenegger? Even Spider-Man? Yes, even Spider-Man. When it comes to bringing Hollywood to the fans, Madame Tussaud’s can’t be beat. But maybe it can have a beat.

Reuters is reporting that the original Tussaud’s in London will be premiering a new figure on Valentine’s Day, Tom Hardy (well, let’s hope there’s more Tom Hardy in the Tom Hardy figure than there was Venom in the Venom trailer). What makes this one stand out? A WORKING HEARTBEAT. They’re using the hashtag #TomHearty, and while that’s cheesy, it’s spot on.

Speaking of “Spot on,” when you really think about it, how else were they going to test the realism of the figure than with Hardy’s favorite thing in the entire world? Dogs from the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home surrounded “Tom” and from the looks of it, cozied up to him as if they were with the real Hardy himself. There was no mention as to whether the figure recited lines as Bane to the pups, but hey, we can imagine.

So, they’ve created a Tom Hardy with a working heartbeat. It’s obvious their next innovation should be working web-shooters on Spider-Man.

So what do you think? Is this a technological advancement in the arts, or another of those “actors pretending to be a wax figure” prank? Let me know on Twitter @donnielederer or sound off in the comments below.
