Tom Hanks Stands Tall in New BRIDGE OF SPIES Trailer

“Every time they hit him, he stood back up again. They hit him harder — still he got back to his feet. I think because of this they let him live.”

“And I remind you of him.”

“Standing man. Standing man.”

That idea of standing up in the face of adversity is the focus of the newest trailer for Bridge of Spies, the new Tom Hanks film. The movie is based on the real-life story of the 1960 U-2 incident, and Hanks stars as the lawyer hired by the CIA to lead a swap of captured spies with the Soviet Union.

The film was made by Hollywood elite — Hanks has once again reunited with director Steven Spielberg. Previously, Spielberg directed Hanks in Saving Private Ryan, Catch Me If You Can, and The Terminal, and the two also produced Band of Brothers and The Pacific for HBO. Based on that incredible list, expectations for this movie are obviously very high.

If those two alone weren’t enough, the script was co-written by the Coen Brothers, along with playwright Matt Charman.

The studio has also released a new commercial for the film, titled “The Game.” The film looks like it will examine not only the murky world of spies, but also what takes place in the shadows of our government.

Bridge of Spies might be based on a Cold War era event, but its relevancy to the current debate over international spying couldn’t be timelier. The film opens October 16th, and if you missed the first trailer you can check it out below.

This film certainly looks like it has a chance to be great. What are some of your other favorite spy movies? Tell us in the comments below, but please don’t write in code, it doesn’t have to be some big secret or anything.
