TMNT Season Two Clip Conjures Up BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA

So just in case you weren’t clear that the second season premiere of Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles wasn’t a Big Trouble in Little China riff, THEY CAST THE GUY WHO PLAYED LO-PAN AS THE VILLAINOUS HO-CHAN!

That would be veteran character and voice actor James Hong, who semi-reprises his role as the evil sorcerer from the John Carpenter cult classic in this week’s episode, “A Chinatown Ghost Story.” The series creators even went ahead and added the three deadly storms, who end up getting made to look like punks by the Turtles after a brief tussle.

Even the title of this episode is an homage: the oft-retold A Chinese Ghost Story is a landmark in Hong Kong film based on the 17th century novel which follows a poor government official who ends up falling in love with a pretty lady ghost. Shenanigans and martial arts ensue.

The A story of this episode sees the Turtles taking on the villainous Chinatown ghost who is attempting to drain April’s life force (I bet it’s because she has green eyes). The B-story sees the love triangle between Donatello, April, and Casey coming to a head as Donnie continues to deal with his jealousy about April’s relationship with the masked vigilante.

And as you get ready for the second season premiere, you might want to catch up with the Turtles voice cast, who hung out with the Nerdist crew to talk about taking over the roles of the iconic ninja heroes.

“A Chinatown Ghost Story” premieres Friday, September 12, at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.

In fairness they also provided a link to when Biggs was still in the voice cast, and also tagged Seth Green in this post when he’s not set to begin voicing Leonardo until the third season. But I think their “give-a-shit” levels are low so let’s not worry too much about it. 😉

No, not season 2 premiere, not even season 3 premiere. This is episode 23 of 26, season 2. Season 2 season finale is scheduled for 9/26. Episode looks kick ass though.

    Season 2?!?  Don’t you mean season 3?
