Prepare for Titanfall, once again.
Respawn has heard your pleas and is going to include a single player campaign in Titanfall 2 (or whatever it’s going to be called). This news was confirmed by lead writer Jesse Stern in an interview with Forbes. He even discussed a television spin-off in partnership with Lionsgate TV, but didn’t divulge much else.
âOne of the shortcomings of the first game was we just did not have the mechanism to tell everyone âhereâs who you are, hereâs where you are and whoâs around you.â We knew all the answers, we just could not deliver it,â said Stern.
He continued, âSo we are doing our best to deliver a vision of grand global colonial warfare retelling the story of the American Revolution and the American Civil War in space. We imagined the next generation of immigrants moving out to the new frontier of an inhabitable planet. Rather than taking a traditional sci-fi approach to that, we wanted to look at how that would happen practically, what the ships would look like and with machines that were designed for excavation and construction, demolition and working the land, and what happens when they are turned into instruments of war.”
Some might say a campaign is unnecessary, and those people aren’t technically wrong. The first mech-focused installment was fantastic without incorporating a robust story-mode, but that doesn’t mean including one won’t enhance the value of the game altogether. Plus, the description of this new Titanfall sounds quite intriguing.
One thing is for certain, Respawn has the gameplay mechanics down. The sequel should do exponentially better in the sales department thanks to it launching on multiple platforms (the first one was an Xbox exclusive), and it now being a known commodity.
