Tie Your Enemies to Balloons in METAL GEAR ONLINE

As if Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain‘s single player campaign wasn’t robust enough to begin with, Konami just released a video detailing what to expect from the game’s online component—due out on consoles this October 6. To put it short: this looks like the definitive Metal Gear Online experience we’ve been waiting for, with nary a silly Konami ID or goofy online infrastructure (thank goodness!). The video (viewable above) demonstrates everything from the game’s in-depth character creation, to classes and clever combat tactics on the battlefield.

There were definitely a few things worth taking note of in this excellent MGO preview. First off, how about that character creation and the slew of tools given to players to personalize their avatar to their liking? The buddy-link system, which allows players to salute a teammate and buddy up with them on the fly, should certainly add another layer of strategy to an already heavily team-based game. The ability to use the Fulton device to steal away bounty points from the enemy is a clever parameter, though it may encourage some serious camping towards the end of games by teams with players carrying too many points on them. Oh, and how can I forget the most awesome part of the entire preview: Big Boss and Ocelot will make appearances on the MGO battlefield as well, which is sure to tip the scales in close games.

Needless to say, this video gets me 100 times more excited for Metal Gear Online, and I imagine this will be the Metal Gear online experience that will capture the biggest audience yet. How do you think MGO is looking? Stealth crawl into the comments with your thoughts below.
