  1. Blacker says:

    Hi Andrea-
Only just seeing this, so sorry for the delayed response. We love TickTock, have been doing it since the first year of the show when we mentioned the name as a joke. There aren’t as many of them as its world is a bit more limited than Sparks, Beyond Belief, or Laserbeam. It’s also a bit more difficult to grasp for new listeners/audience members than some of the other pieces.
That said, we like to do a few per year.
And as to your PFT-as-Ian-Malcolm question: No! In fact, we first asked our pal Nick Kroll, who does the best Goldblum in the business, to do the part, but he was unavailable. Then we asked Jeff Goldblum, who does the second best Goldblum. We didn’t ask Paul first, because we didn’t even know he had a Goldblum in him! We were psyched when he offered it up, as we cannot imagine anyone else doing it!

  2. Andrea says:

I really enjoy Colonel Tick-Tock and the freedom it lends to visiting different historical characters and time periods, I suppose for many of the same reasons I love Doctor Who. I’ve noticed that it feels like an “underdog” in terms of its popularity among the various other segments. There also aren’t that many of them, I was wondering if this is a fairly new character that was created, or if there just aren’t that many recorded podcasts of this story line? Also, and I suppose this goes without saying, PFT as Ian Malcom is simply inspired. Was the character written with PFT in mind, or was that decision made later in the process? Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions!
