Three More Cast Members Confirm Return for TWIN PEAKS 2016

Now that Kyle MacLachlan has been confirmed to return for next year’s all-new iteration of Twin Peaks, it was only a matter of time before other original cast members began confirming their involvement. At the recent UK Twin Peaks Festival, actors Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer) and Dana Ashbrook (Bobby Briggs) were on hand to talk about their memories of the original series…and also confirmed that they had indeed been asked to return for Twin Peaks 2016.

According to Sheryl Lee, David Lynch personally gave her the OK to publicly announce her being cast in the new series at the convention. In fact, the actress received his phone call on her way to the airport for her flight to London. “I just have a couple of minutes because a car is here to take me to the Twin Peaks Festival,” Sheryl told David Lynch, and he said: “Well, you tell them you are… and Dana is…”  Apparently, none of the actors knew Twin Peaks was coming back when the announcement was made in October, and many thought it was a hoax. But Dana Ashbrook got a text from Sherilyn Fenn who said, “I talked to David. We’re going back to Twin Peaks. We’re gonna have some fun!” which confirms the return of Audrey Horne as well.

Of course, this means that David Lynch and Mark Frost want the actors back, but it doesn’t mean the deals have been signed with Showtime. We won’t know 100% for sure if they’re coming back until then, but it looks like a pretty darn good bet that they are. Of course, the question remains just how will they come back? Because (SPOILERS) both of Sheryl Lee’s characters on the show are dead. Did Laura Palmer have yet another lookalike cousin we didn’t know about? And the finale episode left Audrey Horne in a pretty dire circumstance. Of course, according to the first rule of soap operas and comic books, you’re not dead until we see a body, and even then it’s still a maybe. Many of the fates of the characters in the intervening 25 years will probably be cleared up by Mark Frost’s upcoming novel The Secret Lives of Twin Peaks, coming this year.

    I hope log lady returns

  2. wadebran says:

Sheryl Lee is probably still playing Laura Palmer stuck in the Black Lodge with the real Agent Cooper (or his consciousness anyway). It’ll be interesting to see what the BOB – possessed version of Cooper has been up to.

I hope it’s the best of David Lynch, and not the insufferable, over-rated David Lynch. With this cast, I’ll be there to watch. We’ll see what we see.
