Three Beautiful Box Sets for the Fall: Re-releases From Sleater Kinney, George Harrison, and Wilco

For those of you still into the whole physical media thing, three new box sets are on the way this fall that will hug your ear drums with aural goodness. Collected works from Wilco, Sleater-Kinney, and George Harrison are all headed your way later this year.

Sleater-Kinney’s Corin Tucker, Carrie Brownstein, and Janet Weiss may have split 10 years ago, but the riot grrrl trio hasn’t been far from the public eye. Tucker and Weiss moved onto separate bands–the Corin Tucker Band and the Jicks–and many of you know Brownstein for her understated-yet-outlandish work as the co-creator and costar of IFC’s Portlandia.

In October, Sub Pop will reissue all 7 Sleater-Kinney albums with Start Together, which will feature remasterd versions of Sleater-Kinney’s studio albums, spanning the eponymous Sleater-Kinney (1995) to The Woods in 2005. Sub Pop is releasing Start Together as a limited edition– there will be 3,000 copies with each album pressed on colored vinyl, alongside a 44-page book of unreleased photos. Preorder is available on the Sub Pop shop.

Meanwhile, George Harrison’s six studio albums with Apple will be collected in September 23rd’s The Apple Years 1968-75. That set will include a book with an introduction from Harrison’s son Dhani, photos, essays, and a seven-minute documentary filmed by his wife, Olivia. You can preorder The Apple Years here.

Finally, Wilco’s 20th anniversary box set due out this fall. The best-of set’s release date has yet to be determined but the band will accompany the release and anniversary with 10 tour dates between September and October:

9-03 Columbus, OH – LC Pavilion
