Thor Will Be in INFINITY WAR, and Star-Lord Might Be, Too

In just under a month, we’re going to be get to see the superhero explosion that will be Disney and Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, which will actually have more MCU characters than the last Avengers movie did. But just on the other side of that, there’s going to be potentially the biggest crossover movie ever made, in the two-part The Avengers: Infinity War. That’s going to have Thanos as the big baddie, which means cosmic characters will get to make an appearance with the Earth-based people. Cosmic characters like… Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) perhaps?

When talking about the future of the Cinematic Universe de Marvel to ComicBook.com, Anthony Russo—who co-directed Civil War with his brother Joe and will do the same for those two Infinity War movies—circled the topic of working with Pratt in the future.

The movies are intended to be a culmination of everything that’s happened before in the MCU so you don’t want to get into spoilers, but I’m a big fan of what James Gunn has done. [Joe Russo and I] are both big fans of what James Gunn has done. Star-Lord is a fantastic character and Chris Pratt is an awesome performer so you’d be very excited.

While that’s certainly not a confirmation, it would make sense to bring Guardians of the Galaxy‘s red-jacketed space cowboy for a fight that will see the universe in peril. And if he’s there, it’s not a guarantee that the other Guardians will make an appearance, but it’s certainly pointing to that. I mean, who’d want to miss the chance to see Gamora, Groot, Rocket, and Drax again?

One thing we had a near-100% certainty about for Infinity War is the presence of Thor (Chris Hemsworth) who is one of the few (two) Avengers who won’t be in Civil War. Joe Russo was much more concrete about him being in the movie.

I’m excited to work with Thor. They’re doing some really interesting stuff with Ragnarok and where he’s gonna be at the beginning of Infinity War is gonna be a very interesting place and I think very profound. I think he’s gonna have a real emotional motivation after that.

So, Thor and likely Star-Lord will join the fray in one or both parts of The Avengers: Infinity War, but we’ll have quite a long way to go before we get there; Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man, Thor: Ragnarok, and Black Panther will all come out before IW: Part 1 and Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel will come out before IW: Part 2. Lots of stuff can happen between now and then.

And while we’re here, see who else is may pop up in Infinity War:

Who do you hope shows up and brings it to Thanos in the next Avengers movie? Which movie are out most looking forward to besides that? Let us know in the comments below!
