THOR: RAGNAROK Mashed Up With SHREK Footage Works a Too Well

Ever have the occasional weird thought where you’re like “Hey, Shrek is pretty much Scottish Hulk, right?” and everyone around you has a good chuckle, some other jokes are had, and then you move on with your day? Well, it seems someone with editing software, the Shrek film series on DVD, and a good chunk of free time had that thought and went wonderfully overboard proving their thesis.

A recent post on io9 brought this fantastic piece of mashed-up goodness to our eyeballs and we couldn’t be happier about it. It is downright strange how well YouTube’s Darth Blender was able to match up Shrek footage with the trailer for Thor: Ragnarok. The “Shrek is Hulk” comparison would be more than enough for a mash-up like this but using King “Artie” from Shrek the Third for Thor, the Fairy Godmother from Shrek 2 for Hela, and Donkey as a stand-in for Loki is just too perfect.

Should you somehow doubt that the the Shrek films aren’t weird proto-MCU movies, think of how the action sequences and the destruction of the kingdom of Far Far Away sync so well with Hela’s assault on Asgard in the Ragnarok trailers or how Jeff Goldblum‘s Grandmaster and Rumpelstiltskin from Shrek Forever After appear to have the same posture and mannerisms. Plus, there’s the fact that the films feature Shrek in both human and green, hulking monster form. It’s like Dreamworks had the jump on Marvel for more than a decade!
