Thomas Middleditch Bares All in New SEARCH PARTY Poster (Exclusive)

Sometimes you’re about to get married. Sometimes your best friend ruins the ceremony. Sometimes your furious bride decides to go to Mexico for a solo honeymoon anyway. Sometimes you follow her, desperate to repair your newly-minted nuptials, only to wind up carjacked, naked, and penniless on the side of the road. We’ve all been there. And now Thomas Middleditch is going there too in the brand new action comedy Search Party.

In Search Party, Middleditch stars as Nardo, a man whose wedding is rudely interrupted by his longtime friend Jason (T.J. Miller), who believes his buddy is making a terrible mistake. With his wedding in shambles, Nardo follows his enraged bride to the Mexican resort where they were supposed to have their honeymoon — except he never makes it. While en route, Nardo gets jumped, robbed blind, and is left stranded, naked, and alone in the Mexican desert. Now, it’s up to Jason and their other best friend Evan (Adam Pally) to rescue Nardo before heat exhaustion, dehydration, or crazed cocaine dealers take him out first. You know, that old chestnut. The film also marks the directorial debut of Scot Armstrong, who co-wrote Old School and Road Trip.

Nerdist has an exclusive first-look at the film’s new poster for you, which really plays up how naked and afraid Thomas Middleditch’s Nardo really is, as well as how TJ. Miller’s Jason and Adam Pally’s Evan look like they’ve been ripped from a 1980s Chuck Norris flick.

Actually, upon further analysis, it looks like Middleditch is wearing gold lamé leggings in that poster, so maybe he isn’t as naked as I once thought he was.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Wedding bells threaten to break up three best friends’ long-running bromance, but they aren’t going down without a fight in Search Party, the directing debut of screenwriter Scot Armstrong (The Hangover Part II, Old School).

Convinced that his buddy Nardo (Thomas Middleditch) is making the mistake of a lifetime by marrying Tracy (Shannon Woodward), Jason (T.J. Miller) puts a dramatic end to their wedding. When the furious bride decides to take her Baja honeymoon solo, Nardo follows her—where the lovesick groom is carjacked and left stranded, naked and penniless in a remote part of the Mexican desert. Helpless, Nardo sends out an SOS to Jason and their pal Evan (Adam Pally), an up-and-coming ad exec slated for an important business meeting the next morning. During their ridiculous attempt to rescue Nardo, the trio embarks on a series of increasingly outrageous misadventures involving con artists, drug smugglers and even the Federales in this wild and wacky action comedy.

Search Party opens on May 13.
