August 19th at 7pm – Writer’s Guild Foundation presents Genre Smash

Do you know how many women are writing big superhero and science fiction movies these days? If your answer was a really low number, you’re probably still overestimating. The imbalance between male and female screenwriters is even more pronounced when it comes to the big summer movies. Which is why it’s so awesome that Marvel’s smash hit of the summer, Guardians of the Galaxy, was developed and co-written by Nicole Perlman, a first-time screenwriter.

Nicole joins us at the Nerdmelt Showroom to talk about working in Marvel’s writing program, developing a story based on a little-known comic series, and writing dialogue for a gun-toting raccoon. Get hooked on a feeling – reserve a seat today.
