This Week at NerdMelt Theater

Stocked up on entirely-legal-in-your-county fireworks for your crazy 4th of July Celebration? Great, because we’ve stocked up on some fireworks shows here at NerdMelt Theater! No sparklers!

Friday at 9:00 spend An Evening with Dominic Dierkes and DC Pierson!

Live from The Nerdist Theatre at Meltdown Comics, it’s Dominic Dierkes and DC Pierson! Come spend a hot Summer night with two-thirds of DERRICK Comedy and stars of the cult classic Mystery Team as they each do a half-hour of stand up.

$8 in advance, $10 at the door!

Saturday at 8:00 enter The Joke Machine!

Back by popular demand, LA’s original roast-meets-gameshow juggernaut returns to Meltdown Comics.

Three comics battle in the Joke Machine performing new material on an assigned topic, entering a wildcard challenge to do anything from crowd work to reviewing a movie, and gaining bonus points for relentless slamming– all in under a minute!

The fireworks and energy of this show are legendary, having featured such epic battles as Louis CK vs Sarah Silverman vs Andy Kindler…  Zach Galifianakis vs Nick Swardson vs Warren Thomas…  Patton Oswalt vs Blaine Capatch vs Howard Kremer…. The list goes on. Who will survive the comedy blitzkreig?

Hosted by the dangerously unbalanced Bil Dwyer, featuring a changing cast of LA’s best and brightest.

$8 in advance, $10 at door!

Sunday at 7:00 is Matt Mira’s Day Off!

Matt Mira of the Nerdist Podcast needs a Day Off, so we decided to give him Sundays at Nerdist Theater. Come watch Mira and Paul Cibis host this comedy free-for-all. You’ll see brand new comics, comics you know and love trying out new material (Chris Hardwick and Kumail Nanjiani are frequent drop ins), and the magic that is live comedy.

Free!

Monday at 8:00 brace yourself for Horrible Movie Night!

It’s movie riffing DIY-style! We scour the bottom of the VHS barrel to find the worst movies you’ve never seen, and invite YOU to help us make fun of them. Come up with the best one-liners of the night, and you could win a prize! Your hosts, John Mathot (Disney’s Phineas & Ferb), Susan Wright (The Because Show podcast), and improv troupe The Omelettes will present a disastrously bad Bo Derek movie (is that redundant?) called Ghosts Can’t Do It. If you dig MST3K and RiffTrax, HMN is for you!

$8 in advance, $10 at the door!

Tuesday at 8:00 see the unbelievable at Justin Willman’s Magic Meltdown!

Join Justin Willman (Food Network’s Cupcake Wars) as he and his friends present a cataclysmic evening of prestidigitation, make-believe, and excessive sleight-of-mouth. You’ll spend the entire time wondering “how’d they do that?” and gasping at the wonders of…. MAGIC! July’s lineup includes: Juggler and Contortionist Scot Nery, Ryan Stout, and Bruce Gold!

$8 in advance, $10 at the door!

Wednesday, we will be closed for the 4th of July!

Thursday at 8:00, it’s comedy without a safety net at Set List!

From the minds of Paul Provenza and Troy Conrad… Set List is back from sold-out shows at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Montreal Just For Laughs Festival, and a regular run in London. Top comics are given a never-before-seen “setlist”of strange and outrageous topics the second they walk onstage, and perform seamlessly as if its the act they normally do, while the audience follows their list on the projection screen. Complete comedy in the moment. Featuring…

Jen Kirkman, Greg Proops, Kira Soltanovich, Bil Dwyer, Jim Earl and more to come!

$8 in advance, $10 at the door!

Thank you all so much for your continued support of the theater. Follow us on Twitter and track us on our blog for more info about any of these shows!
