This Week at NerdMelt Theater!

Have you stocked up on everything you need for your Memorial Day weekend? Popsicles, sunscreen, Friendship Bread? (We were raised in a traditional Amish community.) Great! We here at NerdMelt theater stocked up on some incredible shows, so come on down!

Friday at 8:00, see the debut of Matt McKenna’s new show Lyrical Gangster!

On May 25th, 1977, George Lucas released his innovation, Star Wars, and changed the world forever. On May 25th, 2012, Matt McKenna (American Dad, Team Coco) premieres his new comedy show Lyrical Gangster at the Nerdist Theatre at Meltdown Comics and will also change the world… into silly wigs. By the way, this show has nothing to do with Star Wars. It’s about comedy. And music lyrics. So come watch Matt as he plucks lyrics from classic songs, tosses the actual music aside, and puts those words into funny situational contexts for a night of comedic monologues and sketches. It’s old content with new context. With guest performers: Galloway Allbright, Lauren Flans, and Dan Mahoney.

$8 in advance, $10 at the door!

Saturday at 8:00 is another edition of Set List!

From the minds of Paul Provenza and Troy Conrad… Set List is back from sold-out shows at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Montreal Just For Laughs Festival, and a regular run in London. Top comics are given a never-before-seen “set list”of strange and outrageous topics the second they walk onstage, and perform seamlessly as if its the act they normally do, while the audience follows their list on the projection screen. Complete comedy in the moment. With TJ Miller, Frank Conniff, Rick Overton, Johnny Pemberton, Hal Sparks, Maronzio Vance, Harland Williams, Alisya Wood, and Hampton Yount.

$8 in advance, $10 at the door!

Sunday at 7:00 is Matt Mira’s Day Off!

Matt Mira of the Nerdist Podcast needs a Day Off, so we decided to give him Sundays at Nerdist Theater. Come watch Mira and Paul Cibis host this comedy free-for-all. You’ll see brand new comics, comics you know and love trying out new material (Chris Hardwick and Kumail Nanjiani are frequent drop ins), and the magic that is live comedy.

Free!

Monday at 8:00 boldly go where no man has gone before at Star Dreck!

Kumail Nanjiani and Matt Mira are huge Trekkies, but even they have to admit that some of them just don’t hold up. Join them as they introduce you to some of the worst Star Trek episodes in existence, and then proceed to rip them to shreds. With the help of Wil Wheaton (Wil Wheaton?!), will they boldly go where no fan has gone before?

$8 in advance, $10 at the door!

Tuesday at 8:00 dork out at The Dork Forest with Jackie Kashian Live!

Greg Fitzsimmons is the guest on May’s live recording of The Dork Forest. He is an amazing comic, writer and producer… and host of Fitz Dog Radio (on iTunes) And surely he has something he wants to talk about. Jackie will ask him about his recurring hosting of the SPCA yearly benefit and the Porn Awards, and how they impact each other. No, she doesn’t want to know. But. She. Does. Come to this… for he is amazing in so many ways. THE DORK FOREST LIVE! And the awesome Laurie Kilmartin will be playing the part of stand-up-comic at the end of the show.

$8 in advance, $10 at the door!

Wednesday at 8:30 respect the chemistry at Breakinggifs presents The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail!

This week, Jonah Ray and Kumail Nanjiani host this Breaking Bad-themed night full of show-related surprises, but no special blue meth. Thursday at 8:00 witness something new at The Incubator!

The show is presented by Sean Conroy and Kyle Kinane, and hosted by Sean Conroy. With guests Chris Hardwick, Erin Foley, Byron Bowers, Josh Comers, and Brendon Walsh.
