This Week at NerdMelt Theater!

It’s mid April! Which doesn’t just mean you only have ten and a half shopping weeks until Lionel Richie’s birthday (we’re making him a picture frame with seashells!) but it also means we have another great slate of shows here at NerdMelt Theater!

Saturday at 8:00 witness Horrible Movie Night!

It’s movie riffing DIY-style! We scour the bottom of the VHS barrel to find the worst movies you’ve never seen, and invite YOU to help us make fun of them. Come up with the best one-liners of the night, and you could win a prize! We also add improv comedy sprinkled throughout the show. It all adds up to a wild evening of horrible entertainment.
Your host, John Mathot (writer/artist for Disney’s Phineas & Ferb), and improv troupe The Omelettes will present 1987’s disastrously funny Alien Private Eye — imagine The Maltese Falcon meets Captain Eo, if you dare. If you dig MST3K and RiffTrax, HMN is for you!

$8 in advance, $10 at the door!

Sunday at 5:00pm is another edition of the Nerdist Writers Panel!

Spend your Sunday afternoons learning from the best at the Nerdist Writers Panel! Join moderator Ben Blacker as he hosts esteemed panelists discussing topics like different types of writing, how they got started, what inspires them, the business side of writing, and more. Panelists will also answer your questions and give some helpful tips and tricks! This series is a must for any hopeful writer in LA, with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit 826LA. Featuring Amy Berg (Person of Interest), Shawn Ryan (creator, The Shield, Chicago Code, and Last Resort) and Cheo Hodari Coker (Southland and Notorious)!

$15!

Sunday at 7:00pm is Matt Mira’s Day Off!

Matt Mira of the Nerdist Podcast needs a Day Off, so we decided to give him Sundays at Nerdist Theater. Come watch Mira and Paul Cibis host this comedy free-for-all. You’ll see brand new comics, comics you know and love trying out new material (Chris Hardwick and Kumail Nanjiani are frequent drop ins), and the magic that is live comedy.

Free!

Monday at 8:00 take a stroll to Harmontown!

Mayor Dan Harmon and Comptroller Jeff B. Davis return for another installment of this popular, vodka-soaked show.

SOLD OUT. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door. $10!

Tuesday at 8:00 check out Rachel Bloom’s Sexy Night of Musical Comedy!

Rachel Bloom (“Fuck Me, Ray Bradbury,” Robot Chicken) hosts a night of musical comedy so sexy it will blow your mind. Featuring some of LA’s best musical comedians. With Erik Weiner, MC Mr. Napkins, Ben Sheehan and more!

$8 in advance, $10 at the door!

Wednesday at 8:30, it’s The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail!

This week, Jonah and Kumail welcome the comedy stylings of Matt Mira, Dave Anthony, Emily Maya Mills, Ed Greer, Dominic Dierkes and Garfunkel and Oates!

Just $8!

Thursday at 8:00 catch a sneak peak of THE NARRATIVE OF VICTOR KARLOCH!

Heather Henson and Handmade Puppet Dreams Present a Sneak Peek at The Narrative of Victor Karloch, a Victorian Ghost Story Puppet Film directed by effects artist Kevin McTurk and featuring the voices of Christopher Lloyd, Elijah Wood, and Maurice LaMarche.
