This Week at NerdMelt Showroom!

We have a positively stacked lineup this week at the NerdMelt Showroom. Like the sort of lineup that might have inspired the Commodores song “Brick House”. Yeah, we’re letting it all hang out…

Join author Dan Curry and an all-lesbian panel of comics as they celebrate and discuss his first pulp crime fiction novel – Kung-Fu Lesbian! Dan will be on hand to answer questions and sign your copy, which might be worth millions of dollars by the end of fiscal year 2012! Get in at the ground level at this FREE show!

Saturday at 9:00 is Booze Cruise!

Laughs ahoy! Come sail the high seas as a passenger on Booze Cruise! Ken Shultz (Family Sandwich‘s Brad Gage) hosts the ship’s comedy variety show hour featuring an eclectic drunken meld of stand-up, sketch, music and more! The liquory Captain Andy, gin-soaked cougar Blanche Longtunnel, and the ship’s mixologist Rick Jippley will be keeping us all afloat. Take a southern riverboat cruise down the Mississippi entertained by the likes of Sean O’Connor, Taylor Williamson, Jerrod Carmichael, Katie Crown, Power Violence, WOMEN, Dead Kevin, and more! The Grilled Cheese Truck will be there, too!

Free!

Sunday at 5:00 is The Nerdist Writer’s Panel!

The Nerdist Writer’s Panel series is an informal chat moderated by Ben Blacker (co-creator of The Thrilling Adventure Hour; writer for Supah Ninjas, Supernatural, among others) with professional writers about the process and business of writing. Covering TV, film, comic books, music, novels, and any other kind of writing about which you care to hear. Join us as we talk with Amy Ozols (Jimmy Fallon; Guys with Kids), Charlie Grandy (Daily Show; the Office; Guys with Kids) and Fred Stoller (Seinfeld; Fred and Vinnie)!

The line-up is subject to change. And as always, proceeds from the live panels benefit 826LA, the national non-profit tutoring program.

Sunday at 7:00 is Matt Mira’s Day Off!

Matt Mira of the Nerdist Podcast needs a Day Off, so we decided to give him Sundays at Nerdist Showroom. Come watch Mira and Paul Cibis host this comedy free-for-all. You’ll see brand new comics, comics you know and love trying out new material (Chris Hardwick and Kumail Nanjiani are frequent drop ins), and the magic that is live comedy.

Free!

Monday at 8:00 is Harmontown!

Yup, that’s right, it’s weekly! Attend a town meeting in a land free of brevity, where Mayor Dan Harmon (creator of Community) and Comptroller Jeff B. Davis (Whose Line is it Anyway) take another small, vodka-soaked step toward colonizing the moon. Evening may include ineffectual rants, songs, shameful stories, special guests (Allison Brie, Donald Glover, and Gillian Jacobs have all stopped in), forehead sweat and repeated exposure to the phrases “like” , “uh”, “sort of” and “you know.”

$10!

Tuesday at 7:00 is Set List!

From the minds of Paul Provenza and Troy ConradSet List is back from sold-out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Montreal’s Just For Laughs Festival, and a regular run in London. Top comics are given a never-before-seen “set list” of strange and outrageous topics the second they walk onstage, and perform seamlessly as if its the act they normally do, while the audience follows their list on the projection screen. Complete comedy in the moment. This week features Rick Overton, Cathy Ladman, Johnny Pemberton, Laurie Kilmartin, Maz Jobrani, Kira Soltanovich, & more!

$8 in advance, $10 at the door!

Tuesday at 9:00 is Blaxistential Crisis: An Evening with Baron Vaughn!

Join Baron Vaughn and a group of people that owe him money for a night of ribald tales and bawdy puns with special guests Andy Wood, Cameron Esposito, Claudia Cogan, Jerrod Carmichael, & Steve Agee!

$8 in advance, $10 at the door!

Wednesday at 8:30 is The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail!

This week, Jonah Ray and Kumail Nanjiani welcome Nikki Glaser, Rob O’Reilly, Eddie Ifft, Rob Delaney, from NYC, Dan St. Germain, Matt Goldich & Anthony Jeselnik!

$8!

Thursday at 7:00 is Worst Foot Forward: When Comedy Goes Bad!

Co-Host Andy Ritchie used to work for a booking agency. Everyday tapes would come in from aspiring comedians; some good, some bad. Over the years Andy has compiled some of the best ‘worst’ submissions to create this show, Worst Foot Forward: When Comedy Goes Wrong. WFF takes you on a journey of “try hard”. Everyday comedians have to sell themselves, hustle to get the job, make the tape. We generally focus on the ones that shine but what about the ones that burn out in blaze of not glory. Let’s celebrate the failure, cheer on the not so good. It’s okay to laugh, it’s not you. Hosted by Colton Dunn (writer for Key and Peele) and Andy Ritchie (Live At Gotham, Just For Laughs).

$8 in advance, $10 at the door!

Thursday at 9:00 is Persona!

Tony Sam brings his hit monthly show, Persona!, L.A.’s only completely character-based comedy show, to NerdMelt Showroom! The show features the finest stand-up comedians performing as their funniest characters in a show called “A Total Riot” by Laughspin and “a standout” at the Bridgetown Comedy Festival two years in a row. Featuring Matt Braunger, Rory Scovel, Andres Du Buchet, Howard Kremer, Joe Wengert, Aparna Nancherla, Christian Duguay, and more to come!

$8 in advance, $10 at the door!

Thank you all so much for your continued support of the showroom. Follow us on Twitter and track us on our blog for more info about any of these shows!
