This Week at NerdMelt Showroom: Set List, KPCC Crawford Family Forum, and more!

NerdMelt Showroom

Another super fun week of events planned at the NerdMelt Showroom at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles: Some free things, like the BBC Classic Doctor Who Screening Series, KPPC’s Crawford Family Forum swinging by, Fantasy art opening, and some super-special things, like Set List recording shows for the Nerdist Channel. Of course, there’s always the Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail too, plus SketchMelt, and more, more, MOAR!!!

March 30th at Noon it’s BBC Classic Doctor Who Screening!

Whovians! Grab your sonic screwdriver and slap on your bow ties as BBC Home Entertainment and Nerdist present the Classic Doctor Who Screening Series. Each month, come by and watch a different full adventure of everybody’s favorite Time Lord from the first 26 years of the show’s history. Trivia and costume contests will also be happening with tons of great Doctor Who prizes. It’ll be a TARDIS-ful of fun. Hosted by Nerdist.com’s own Who Guru, Kyle Anderson.

March 30th join us for Doctor Who: The Ark in Space.

The TARDIS lands on a space station orbiting the earth in the distant future. It’s seemingly deserted, but the Doctor (Fourth Doctor – Tom Baker), Sarah Jane, and Harry soon discover that they are not alone. Thousands of humans – the only survivors of the human race – are in cryogenic sleep, and while they’ve slept their ark has been invaded. A parasitic insect race – the Wirrn – have taken control and threaten the very future of mankind.

FREE.

March 30th at 7 pm and 9 pm, it’s Set List Live Taping!

Join us for a very special Nerdist Channel taping of Set List! That’s right, Set List is coming to Nerdist Channel for 20 episodes of comedy greatness without a net. See it at NerdMelt first by being a part of the moment at this LIVE taping!

From the minds of Paul Provenza and Troy Conrad… Set List is back from sold-out shows at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Montreal Just For Laughs Festival, and a regular run in London. Top comics are given a never-before-seen “set list” of strange and outrageous topics the second they walk onstage, and perform seamlessly as if its the act they normally do, while the audience follows their list on the projection screen. Complete comedy in the moment.

The 7pm Set List features Hampton Yount, Rove McManus, Todd Glass, Rory Scovel, Dan Telfer, Drew Carey, Cameron Esposito and special guests. Hosted by Paul Provenza.

$8 in advance, $10 at the door.

The 9pm Set List features Rick Overton, TJ Miller, Jon Daly, Dana Gould, Joey Diaz, Johnny Pemberton, Neil Hamburger, Fortune Feimster and special guests. Hosted by Paul Provenza.

$8 in advance, $10 at the door

March 31st at 7 pm, it’s Nerdist Open Mic!

April 1st at 8 pm, it’s Harmontown!

What is Harmontown? It’s awesome. It’s unique. It’s one of a kind. It’s something only Dan Harmon (creator of Community and the upcoming Rick and Morty) and Jeff B. Davis (Whose Line is it Anyway) can do. It’s a different show every time and it’s every week. Lucky us! Playing Dungeons and Dragons? It’s happened. Dan Harmon freestyle rapping? Yup, that too. Calling Chevy Chase from stage? Happened…more than once. A celebrity guest? Allison Brie, Donald Glover, and Gillian Jacobs among others have all stopped in. Getting super personal with an intimate audience? Always. It’s Harmontown. It’s awesome. It’s unique. Don’t miss a single week.

$10.
