This Week at NerdMelt Showroom!

Ready to cast your ballot? The ballot for “best comedy lineup,” that is. Because NerdMelt Showroom has a slate of shows that deserve “four more years!” Politics!

Friday at 8:00 is The INVOCATION I Art Opening!

INVOCATION I is an exploration of darkness and esoterica from five artists who, with work featured on top black, death and doom metal records and in occult and art publications, create the aesthetic that helps to define the modern fringe of extreme art and music. Antichrist Kramer and Peter Beste will be in attendance signing. DJ Jonbenet (Dominick from Ash Pool/Prurient) will be doing a special 7″ only black and death metal DJ set.

Free!

Saturday at 7:00 is The NerdMelt Election Special!

Presidential hopefuls Mo Fathelbab (from The Nerdist Channel’s NerdTerns) and Alexis Quasarano are participating in a town hall debate (moderated by Drew Spears), and the entire staff of The Nerdist Showroom at Meltdown Comics will be on hand to campaign via a live comedy show! So, come on down for sketches, standup performances, and abuses of the bully pulpit!

$8 in advance, $10 at the door!

Saturday at 9:00 is Cosplay Karaoke!

Every thought to yourself: what would Harley Quinn sing if she had a chance? Or what would Peter Parker belt out? Well, now you’ll have a chance to find out! Cosplay queen Nicki Hunter brings you a night of karaoke like you’ve never seen it: in costume! Come down to The Nerdist Showroom at Meltdown Comics and enjoy the fun in your normal everyday clothes, or come and dress up for your chance to sing like a superhero!

Free!

Sunday at 5:00 is The Nerdist Writer’s Panel!

The Nerdist Writer’s Panel series is an informal chat moderated by Ben Blacker (co-creator of The Thrilling Adventure Hour; writer for Supah Ninjas, Supernatural, among others) with professional writers about the process and business of writing. Covering TV, film, comic books, music, novels, and any other kind of writing about which you care to hear.

On November 4th, join us for a very special Man of Action Studios edition featuring the creators of Ben 10 and Generation Rex as well as the writer/co-executive producers of Ultimate Spider-Man and the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers Assemble on Disney XD. We talk with Joe Casey (Godland, Butcher Baker, Officer Downe), Steven T. Seagle (it’s a bird…, The Red Diary/The RE[a]D Diary, Batula) and Duncan Rouleau (Metal Men; The Great Unknown)! The line-up is subject to change. And as always, proceeds from the live panels benefit 826LA, the national non-profit tutoring program.

$15!

Sunday at 7:00 is The Nerdist Open Mic!

Matt Mira of the Nerdist Podcast and Paul Cibis host this comedy free-for-all. You’ll see brand new comics, comics you know and love trying out new material (Chris Hardwick and Kumail Nanjiani are frequent drop ins), and the magic that is live comedy. Sign up at 7pm, lottery at 7:30!

Free!

Monday at 8:00 is Harmontown!

Yup, that’s right, it’s weekly, and it’s a podcast too! Attend a town meeting in a land free of brevity, where Mayor Dan Harmon (creator of Community) and Comptroller Jeff B. Davis (Whose Line is it Anyway) take another small, vodka-soaked step toward colonizing the moon. Evening may include ineffectual rants, songs, shameful stories, special guests (Allison Brie, Donald Glover, and Gillian Jacobs have all stopped in), forehead sweat and repeated exposure to the phrases “like” , “uh”, “sort of” and “you know.”

$10!

Wednesday at 8:30 is The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail’s 100th Show 2nd Birthday Blowout!

Come party with us as we celebrate 100 amazing shows! We’ve got comedy, cake, and tons of surprises. Could you be crowned Meltdown Prom King or Prom Queen? Come and find out! With Dave Anthony, Paul Cibis, Steve Agee, Al Jackson, Sean Patton, David Cope & Nick Kroll!

$8!

Thursday at 9:00 is The Greg Proopcast LIVE!

Greg Proops’ massively popular podcast, The Smartest Man in the World, is back at NerdMelt Showroom! Come see the king of “being in the moment” comedy as he talks about religion, politics, and anything else that enters his mind.

$10!

Thank you all so much for your continued support of the showroom. Follow us on Twitter and track us on our blog for more info about any of these shows!

    Hey Chris,

First off, I am a big fan. You have really done a lot to support Doctor Who. Also, you on Craig Ferguson’s show will permanently be on my DVR forever. I just saw you on the “Best of the Christmas Specials”. You were great but…
Which doctor got shot by a thing and then regenerated? (you said this)
Doctor 1 died of extreme old age
Doctor 2 didn’t die… He was forced to regenerate by the time lords
Doctor 3 got lost in the time vortex after being exposed to metabelas crystals
Doctor 4 fell off the array
Doctor 5 got bit by a freakin spider
Doctor 6 got killed by turbulence – that strangely enough didn’t hurt any of the companions
Doctor 7 died from medical malpractice – thanks Obama Care JK 🙂
Doctor 8 – I assume burned up during the Time War
Doctor 9 – absorbed the Time Vortex from Rose

Anyway, I really like the podcast and please continue to bring Doctor Who to more of us current fans and future fans.
