This Week at NerdMelt Showroom!

Geared up for Halloween? What about Election Day? The beginning of November? Overwhelmed by all this questioning? Why not take a load off at one of the fantastic shows at NerdMelt Showroom this week?

Friday at 7:30 is The Incubator!

Sean Conroy and Kyle Kinane present The Incubator, a comedy showcase where seasoned comedians try out brand new material for the very first time. Kind of like an open mic but without all the uncomfortable silence, crickets and yawning. Sean Patton, Jackie Kashian, Chris Hardwick, and Sean Conroy will try out their new stuff for your approval!

$8 in advance, $10 at the door!

Friday at 9:00 is Worst Foot Forward: When Comedy Goes Bad!

Co-Host Andy Ritchie used to work for a booking agency. Everyday tapes would come in from aspiring comedians, some good, some bad. Over the years Andy has compiled some of the best “worst” submissions to create this show. Hosted by Colton Dunn (writer for Key and Peele) and Andy Ritchie (Live At Gotham, Just For Laughs).

$8 in advance, $10 at the door!

Saturday at 2:00 is BBC Classic Doctor Who Screenings!

Saturday at 8:00 is The Haunted Horror Variety Show!

The Haunted Horror Variety Show is a mixture of a chilling variety show and an old time spook show from the 50’s featuring live, multimedia performances of classic horror comic book stories. The evening also includes short acts, sultry singing, prizes, and is packed with thrills like live music by members of the ghastly surf band, The Noble Gasses! The Haunted Horror Variety Show has been developed in collaboration with leading horror comic blog “The Horrors of It All.” Besides a great night of spooky entertainment, the show is serving as a promotional event for a brand new line of comic books published by IDW. Audience members who show up early will get free prizes related to the new comic, Haunted Horror #1. Supplies are limited. Presented by Captured Aural Phantasy Theater!

$10!

Sunday at 7:00 is The Nerdist Open Mic!

Matt Mira of the Nerdist Podcast co-hosts an open mic comedy showcase on Sundays at NerdMelt Showroom. Come watch Matt and Paul Cibis welcome brand new comics, comics you know and love trying out new material (Chris Hardwick and Kumail Nanjiani are frequent drop ins), and the magic that is live comedy. Sign up at 7pm, lottery at 7:30!

Free!

Monday at 8:00 is Harmontown!

Yup, that’s right, it’s weekly, and it’s a podcast too! Attend a town meeting in a land free of brevity, where Mayor Dan Harmon (creator of Community) and Comptroller Jeff B. Davis (Whose Line is it Anyway) take another small, vodka-soaked step toward colonizing the moon. Evening may include ineffectual rants, songs, shameful stories, special guests (Allison Brie, Donald Glover, and Gillian Jacobs have all stopped in), forehead sweat and repeated exposure to the phrases “like” , “uh”, “sort of” and “you know.”

$10!

Tuesday at 8:00 is Star Dreck!

Kumail Nanjiani and Matt Mira are huge Trekkies, but even they have to admit that some of them just don’t hold up. Join them as they introduce you to some of the worst Star Trek episodes in existence, and then proceed to rip them to shreds. With the help of a guest, will they boldly go where no fan has gone before? Come in Trek-related costume and participate in our first annual Star Dreck Costume Contest! All contestants will feel like the borg queen of the ball, and one lucky person will win stuff from Matt Mira’s own personal Star Trek stash. With special guest Horatio Sanz!

$8 in advance, $10 at the door!

Thursday at 8:00 is Jen Kirkman: I’m Giving It To You Rough!

Jen Kirkman is working on the very beginnings of a new hour of material and she wanted to start somewhere that doesn’t just involve running all over town doing five minutes here and there. It’s time to settle in and suck it up and give it to you guys rough. Some bits are ready and a lot are not. But as Lady Gaga said, “If it’s not rough it isn’t fun.” (And that’s the only Lady Gaga lyric Jen knows…)

$8 in advance, $10 at the door!
