This Week At NerdMelt

This week we have so much cheap and free stuff to do it’s ridiculous. We should be arrested.

Saturday at 4:20pm (of course), it’s Standup from Doug Benson and Brendon Walsh!

Doug Benson is recording a new album soon, and Brendon Walsh is taping a Comedy Central special, and they wanna practice in front of you!

Just $5!

Then Saturday at 8pm, it’s an Evening with Spidey and Friends!

Before presenting the West Coast Premiere on its Main Stage, Theatre Unleashed is offering a SNEAK PEEK of the cult classic superhero musical The Spidey Project: With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility. The Broadway parody that made waves on the East Coast follows nerdy social outcast Peter Parker as he takes on an alter ego to battle a dastardly collection of terrifying villains and perhaps his biggest nemesis of all…himself. An Evening With Spidey and Friends takes features the cast performing musical numbers from the show, stand up comics, illusionists and improv artists performing superhero-related material! Come see a sneak peek of the show before anyone else!

$10!

Sunday at 6:30, see Garfunkel and Oates!

You heard right! Just announced, and just before Matt Mira’s Day Off, all you have to do is show up and you’ll see Garfunkel and Oates practicing their half hour special for you, before they head off to film it next week!

No reservations, no tickets, no cost, but seats are limited!

FREE!

Then at 7pm on Sunday, it’s Matt Mira’s Day Off, of course!

Matt Mira of the Nerdist Podcast needs a Day Off, so we decided to give him Sundays at Nerdist Theater. Come watch Mira and Paul Cibis host this comedy free-for-all. You’ll see brand new comics, comics you know and love trying out new material (Chris Hardwick and Kumail Nanjiani are frequent drop ins), and the magic that is live comedy.

FREE

Monday at 8pm, it’s Harmontown!

People always ask us “What is Harmontown?”, and that’s a tough question to answer, but here’s the closest thing we’ve got: We gave the creator of Community a night to do whatever he wanted, and what we got was Harmontown. Attend a town meeting in a land free of brevity, where Mayor Dan Harmon and Comptroller Jeff B. Davis (Whose Line is it Anyway) take another small, vodka-soaked step toward colonizing the moon. Evening may include ineffectual rants, songs, shameful stories, special guests (Allison Brie, Donald Glover, and Gillian Jacobs have all stopped in), forehead sweat, and repeated exposure to the phrases “like” , “uh”, “sort of” and “you know.”.

THIS SHOW IS SOLD OUT ONLINE, BUT THERE WILL BE A HANDFUL OF TICKETS AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR.

Tuesday at 8pm, it’s Star Dreck!

Kumail Nanjiani and Matt Mira are huge Trekkies, but even they have to admit that some of them just don’t hold up. Join them as they introduce you to some of the worst Star Trek episodes in existence, and then proceed to rip them to shreds. With the help of Kevin Pollak and Scott Mosier, will they boldly go where no fan has gone before?

$8 in advance, $10 at the door

And on Wednesday at 8:30, of course it’s The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail!

It’s Leap Year Day, so Jonah and Kumail are serving up an extra amazing show for you all! You’ll see Tommy Jonaghin, Chris Fleming, Mike Lawrence, Janine Brito, Jake Johannsen, and a special performance by the Dustbowl Cavaliers!

Just $8!

That’s it for this week, but you can always check us out on Twitter and our blog! We love you all!
