This Week at Nerdist Theater at Meltdown

Hello all! I’m back on my journey to make those of you who don’t live in LA feel sad about not relocating, because it’s time for me to tell you what’s going on at Nerdist Theater at Meltdown for the next seven days!

Saturday, June 18th at 6pm, we have a FREE event from the League of Extraordinary Ladies!

The League of Extraordinary Ladies is hosting their first ever worldwide geek meet-up! The LxL is all about helping geeks find other geeks, and you’ll be partying at the same time as hundreds of nerds around the world. Fun. Food truck. Prizes. Fellow geeks. Be there!

Sunday, June 19th is packed! First up, at 2pm, we have Comic Book Sunday! providing a Comic Book Hangout!

Bring your comics and your geek card and let’s have some fun at the coolest comic shop in Hollywood…Meltdown Comics!!! 10% discount off of everything in the store!!! PixelDrip Gallery will be doing another pop up art show, this month with the theme of SUMMER MOVIES. It’s going to be a blast!! And again, FREE!

At 5pm Sunday, June 19th, we have the Nerdist Writers Series.

Spend your Sunday afternoons learning from the best at the Nerdist Writers Series! Join moderator Ben Blacker as he hosts esteemed panelists discussing topics like different types of writing, how they got started, what inspires them, the business side of writing, and more. This series is a must for any hopeful writer in LA, with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit 826LA.

Scheduled to appear:  Steven S. DeKnight (Buffy; Angel; Spartacus), Tim Minear (Angel; Firefly; Terriers), Harris Wittels (Parks and Recreation), and Megan Ganz (Community)!

Tickets just $15 and they are going fast.

Then at 7pm on Sunday, Matt Mira’s Day Off!

Matt Mira of the Nerdist Podcast needs a Day Off, so we decided to give him Sundays at Nerdist Theater. Come watch Mira and Paul Cibis host this comedy free-for-all. You’ll see brand new comics, comics you know and love trying out new material,  and the magic that is live comedy.

FREE, but spots are limited, so arrive early.

Monday, June 20th at 8pm, we celebrate the return of Harmontown.

The countdown continues due to overwhelming demand: Attend a town meeting in a land free of brevity, where Mayor Dan Harmon (creator of NBC’s Community) and Comptroller Jeff B. Davis (Whose Line is it Anyway) take another small, drunken step toward colonizing the moon. Evening may include ineffectual rants, shameful stories, forehead sweat and repeated exposure to the phrases “like,” “uh,” “sort of,” and “you know.”

Tickets are $10 and they are close to selling out, so get in while you can.

Wednesday, June 22nd at 8:30pm is The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail!

Jonah Ray and Kumail Nanjiani host this popular weekly standup showcase. This week, the boys welcome Steve Agee, Max Silvestri, Jon Daly, Jerrod Carmichael, The Walsh Brothers, The Sklar Brothers, and more surprises!

Tickets are just $8!

Thursday, June 23rd at 8pm, we are proud to welcome Carnyville with Gould and Koechner!

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of a carnival. Creepy dudes running creepy rides while creepy clowns smile creepily. David Koechner (Anchorman, The Naked Trucker & T-Bone) and Dana Gould (The Simpsons, Conan) join forces to recreate the golden era of life along the midway. With stand-up, special guests, music, and a creepy sense of creepitude. Join us, won’t you? (Scheduled to appear- Ali Wong, Eddie Pepitone, Blaine Capatch and more!)

Tickets are just $10 and they are going lightning fast.

That’s all for the next seven days, but we’re finishing out June with a bang, so stay tuned. As always, follow us on Twitter (@NerdMelt) to find out all the haps on the craps.
