This Week at Nerdist Theater at Meltdown!

It’s another gorgeous September into October week here at NerdMelt, the headquarters for all things Nerdist (as well as being a pretty damned amazing comic book store), so let’s get started in telling you what you’ll be doing this week! As a bonus, we’ve got three FREE events happening, so being broke is no excuse not to have fun!

Tonight at 8pm is Telethon!

Telethon will take you back in time to a 1989 televised fundraiser! This variety show will show you glorious 80s sketch as well as stand up from D.C. Pierson and Jim Hamilton. This month’s theme: Diet & Health! $8 in advance, $10 at the door!

Sunday at 7pm is Matt Mira’s Day Off!

Matt Mira of the Nerdist Podcast needs a Day Off, so we decided to give him Sundays at Nerdist Theater. Come watch Mira and Paul Cibis host this comedy free-for-all. You’ll see brand new comics, comics you know and love trying out new material (Chris Hardwick and Kumail Nanjiani have both dropped in), and the magic that is live comedy.

FREE!

Monday at 8pm, we’re doing Cosplay Karaoke!

What would Harley Quinn sing if she had a chance? What would Peter Parker belt out? You have a chance to find out as NerdMelt hosts COSPLAY KARAOKE! Scott Lobdell (DC writer extraordinaire) brings you a night of karaoke like you’ve never seen it: in costume! Come and enjoy the fun in your normal everyday clothes, or come and dress up for your chance to sing like a superhero! Hosted by cosplay queen Nicki Hunter! Rules: No Costume, No Singing! But please join us in the fun anyway!! FREE!

Tuesday at 6pm in the D&D area of Meltdown Comics, we have a night with R.A. Salvatore! As one of the fantasy genre’s most successful authors, R.A. Salvatore enjoys an ever-expanding and tremendously loyal following. His books regularly appear on The New York Times best-seller lists and have sold more than 10,000,000 copies.

And he’s coming to Meltdown Comics. On Tuesday at 6pm, R.A. Salvatore will be on hand to sign copies of his brand new book, Neverwinter Book II, followed by a Q&A in the store! FREE!

Wednesday at 8:30pm, it’s The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail

Jonah Ray and Kumail Nanjiani host this amazing weekly standup show featuring Jesse Popp, Neal Brennan, Tom Segura, and a comic so big we can’t mention her here! $8!

Thursday at 8pm is the return of The Imaginary Radio Program!

Drennon Davis is back with one of our favorite regular shows that is a creative and hilarious look at that old standby: the radio. You’ll see some of LA’s best comedians/musicians/performers as they parody all the ridiculous talk shows, commercials, and terrible music on the airwaves. The Comedy Bureau says of this show that it “not only lives up to its name, but exceeds expectation in what you could possibly think it is.” Featuring Melissa Villasenor (America’s Got Talent), Chip Pope (Last Comic Standing), Alexander Lewis, Monique Moreau, and MC Mr Napkins.

$8 in advance, $10 at the door

And we have more fun free stuff coming up next week too! Come on down and hang out with us and our amazing staff, and if we get too loud, Old Man Hardwick may come downstairs and tell us to knock it off! Follow us on Twitter (@NerdMelt) and check us out online here!

Greetings, Nerds! Your neighborhood Nerdist contributor Matthew Burnside here. TELETHON! is a show started by myself and some of the folks at the NerdMelt Theater.

Come on down at 8pm and help us save those stupid kids at Peaceful Ribbons Elementary from their own appetites!
