This Week at Nerdist Theater at Meltdown

Hello kiddies, gather round and I’ll tell you a tale of the best little comedy theater in the back of a comic book store in all of LA! We have an incredibly fun week coming up, full of sex, Harry Potter, and video games- you know, the things that make life meaningful!

On Saturday, September 10th at 3pm, we are so excited to present UGTL 3.0!

 

The Underground Gaming Tournament League is back and bringing everyone the new 3.0 version of UGTL. The day’s events will include tournaments in Mortal Kombat 9, Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 and Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edtion. There will also be a casual gaming lounge and art brought to you by The PixelDrip Gallery. The start times for the tournaments will be as follows: Mortal Kombat 9 at 4pm, and Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 and Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition at 6pm.

Tickets are just $10!

On Sunday, September 11th at 8pm, The Nerdist Writers Panel Presents “Husbands”: Behind the Scenes!

 

We’ll be hosting a FREE sneak peek at the webseries Husbands by Jane Espenson (Buffy, Battlestar Galactica), Jeff Greenstein (Desperate Housewives, Will and Grace), and Internet star Cheeks. Come hear about the highly-anticipated series, with teaser footage and scandalous tales from the set!  Viewing will be followed by a Q and A with Jane, Jeff, Cheeks, and cast members Sean Hemeon and Alessandra Torresani!

Hosted by the Nerdist Writers Panel’s own Ben Blacker, this panel is a free event to thank those of you who have been supporting the Nerdist Writers Panel so far! There will be limited seats available, so show up early to make sure you get in to this event!

Monday, September 12th at 8pm, we welcome the return of Jackie Kashian’s Dork Forest!

Jackie Kashian’s dork on dork dialog this episode is with Chris Hardwick (G4 and the Nerdist), Dana Gould, and Michael Palascak (Letterman and The Tonight Show). They will delve deeply into Harry Potter – Books vs. Movies. How close did the movies get? It’s going to be epic. Come on down.

Tuesday, September 13th at 8pm, we’re going to have a magical evening with Justin Willman’s Magic Meltdown!

Magician Justin Willman and friends present a cataclysmic evening of prestidigitation, make-believe, and excessive sleight-of-mouth. You’ll spend your night wondering “how’d they do that?” and gasping at the wonders of magic.  With special guests James Galea and Scot Nery!

$8 in advance, $10 day of show!

 

On Wednesday, September 14th at 8:30pm, it’s The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail!

This week, our weekly standup show hosted by Jonah Ray and Kumail Nanjiani welcomes writer for Conan Todd Levin, Johnny Pemberton, Barbara Gray, Nick Turner in from NYC, Pete Holmes, and a special guest we can’t mention here, but you’ll love her!

And finally, on Thursday, September 15th at 8pm, it’s the return of Sex Nerd Sandra!

This month, Sex Nerd Sandra welcomes a career dominatrix as well as comedian Dave Ross to talk about all things kink. “Sex Nerd” Sandra Daugherty is the lead sex educator at Pleasure Chest LA and has been teaching sex and intimacy skill workshops for over two years, helping thousands of people improve their sex lives. Her Nerdist podcast is a wild runaway hit, and you can see her LIVE as she brings her skills to the back of a comic book store! Come and see the woman who brought you “The Crab Hand of Doom” & “The Clittiest Part of the Man-Clit” live and in person as she geeks out on the finer points of orgasming your life and answers your most intimate questions. Panel followed by audience Q&A.
