People have played the Pokémon games so much for so long now that as a way to stay interested, fans have been coming up with their own variations of the game to add a new wrinkle to the adventure. The most famous example of this is the Nuzlocke Challenge, which has many variations but boils down to this: If your Pokémon faints, it has “died,” so you have to release it.
These types of things have always been fan-enforced, but now Nintendo themselves is getting in on the fun: Pokémon Sun and Moon recently hosted the “tiny tourney,” in which competitors could compile their teams using only Pokémon that are one meter (3’03”) tall or shorter (via Kotaku). Pokémon height has never really been a statistic of consequence in the games, so it’s not usually something trainers take into consideration when compiling their teams, so this event really forced trainers to think about their party in a completely different way.

Some legendary Pokémon, like Jirachi, Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf, come to mind, although legendary Pokémon also weren’t allowed in this format. A few Pokémon swirled around my mind when thinking about three I’d go with in this format: Kartana (who has a high attack stat), Porygon-Z (high special attack), and the school form of Wishiwashi (high everything except HP and Speed).

It turns out that these choices made it on Nintendo’s official rankings of Pokémon used in the tournament, which were topped by Mimikyu, Kartana, Muk, Porygon2, and Excadrill. Check out the rankings here, and let us know in the comments which Pokémon you’d go to battle with for a tiny tourney.
