This Live-Action FINAL FANTASY VII Proof of Concept Video is Spectacular

It only seems like yesterday that Square Enix trolled the whole world at the PlayStation Experience, when they announced the HD remaster of the PC port of Final Fantasy VII. It was such a well-timed, perfectly executed trolling of the whole video game industry by Square Enix. Most didn’t find it funny at the moment, but now that E3 has come and gone, the announcement of the up-resed PC version seems like more of a deliberate joke. Now that the Final Fantasy VII Remake has actually been announced, the excitement and passion for the series is back in full effect.

If you need even more to be enthused about, check out this fantastic live-action, proof of concept video for Final Fantasy VII: The Series,  from Director Roth Rind, PermaGrin Films, and the Rind-Raja Picture Company. It’s pretty spectacular. I implore you to take a couple of minutes to consume this video above.

The crew want to make it clear that it’s not a translation but a simple interpretation from their eyes. It’s incredibly atmospheric with an eerie song playing alongside the excellent video adding to the whole ominous feel. All the fan-favorite characters make a short appearance including the Buster Sword-wielding Cloud Strife. There are also other clips on their channel including a behind the scenes look at the production.

I still refuse to believe that the Remake is actually happening; it’s sort of like finding Bigfoot, or witnessing a double rainbow — it just doesn’t happen. Unfortunately, it’s probably not very far along but we can all rest easy knowing that one day our dream of the most beloved Fantasy will be coming to fruition.

What do you think of the above video? Does it bring back sweet memories of playing the original title? Let us know in the comments section below.
