THIS IS THE END Getting 3D Maze at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights

Look, nobody wants to die at James Franco’s house, but we know his place is a pretty great setting for both humor and being scared s–tless. So it’s only fitting that Universal Studios Hollywood is opening a 3D horror-comedy maze based on the hit film This is the End.

Set to open on Friday, September 18, This is the End 3D will become another attraction at Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights, which also recently announced the Halloween: Michael Myers Comes Home maze and one based on Guillermo Del Toro’s Crimson Peak. The maze for This is the End will be the amusement park’s first ever “horror-comedy” maze because it’s important to laugh through your tears.

This is the End

This is the End was released in 2013 and starred Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, James Franco, Craig Robinson, and Danny McBride as caricatures of themselves hiding out together at Franco’s house during the apocalypse. Any fans of the film — you know, people like me that have seen it 15 times — can tell you that there are plenty of scenes from the movie to fill this maze. Even a short list of some of the scarier moments provide plenty of fodder, including:

  • a fiery abyss that opens on the front lawn
  • man-devouring monsters
  • a group of crazed-cannibals
  • Channing Tatum in bondage gear
  • a demon-possessed Jonah Hill…although I doubt the maze will include the demon that attacked Jonah. Actually I’m going to predict it definitely won’t.

No word yet on if the Backstreet Boys will be around to play at the end of the maze, but one can only hope.

Halloween Horror Nights 2015 will run until November 1st, but only on select nights so make sure to check before going. Anyone not sucked up by a ray of blue light by then is expected to fend for themselves and is reminded to be wary of an axe-wielding Hermione Granger.

So what other horror movies would make for a great Halloween Horror Nights maze? Tell us the horror flick you’d most like to see transformed into a real-life experience in the comments below.
