With season five of Game of Thrones kicking off a few days ago, the latest episode of AWE me’s Super Fan Builds–you know, that show that constructs super cool nerdy collectibles for fans–couldn’t have been more appropriate. On this edition, the crew of creative builders led by designer Tim Baker (of Tim Baker Creations) decided to tackle an Iron Throne toilet at the request of a self-proclaimed Game of Thrones superfan. I mean, why fight for the right to sit on the Iron Throne when you can just build your own?
Since the prized potty was being built for John Giovanazzi’s Glendale, CA-based bar, the crew headed over to the location to see what they were working with. The team created over 250 fake swords using plywood, liquid plastic, and Neoprene foam. Although the swords obviously weren’t real, the designers made sure all the pointy parts sat flush against the wall. So, if you were concerned about drunk people accidentally poking their eye out, worry not. They’ll be safe. Also, after painting it, they sprayed a marine-grade water sealant all over the throne, which again, is great considering it will be taking up residency in a bar.
If you liked what you saw, the Awe me channel has a lot of other cool nerdy content like the Man at Arms recreation of Needle (Arya Stark’s sword), Jon Snow’s sword, and even Sauron’s Mace! The Super Fan Builds crew in particular have tackled the house from Disney Pixar’s Up, a Han Solo Carbonite Coffin Coffee Table, and much, much more.
