This DOOM Mod Is Nothing But Grunting Tim Allens

Remember cruising through pixelated hallways and secret passageways, coming head to head with pixelated imps and pink blob demons with your BFG? What if it had all been hundreds of grunting Tim Allens instead? In this weirdly mesmerizing DOOM mod, someone has gone and replaced literally everything with a portrait of comedian Tim Allen. The DOOM guy, his weapons, the monsters, the walls, the ceilings, the floor. Everything. Is. Tim. Allen. The watchful eye of Tim Allen even gazes down upon us from the skylights of this hellish chamber. And every sound, from the background music to the gunshots, has been replaced with Allen’s grunts.

If you’ve ever watched an episode of ’90s sitcom Home Improvement, you may remember that Allen’s character, Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor, often communicated through a series of primal noises. The inflection of each grunt had the power to convey a different emotion to his family and colleagues. Why he did this is not clear, but perhaps it conveys a deep inner pain, like Rick Sanchez‘s “wubba lubba dub dub.”

In a Reddit AMA, the video’s creator said they were inspired by another video in which someone replaced nearly every sound effect in Morrowind with Tim Allen grunts. That video hails from 2013. Another video, this one uploaded in 2014, replaces nearly every sound in DOOM with grunts, but the visuals remain the same. Really, swapping out everything for Tim Allen was only the natural conclusion to all of this. Lucky for Tim, his face remains bright and chipper, as opposed to bloodied and bruised, no matter how much damage he takes.

Does this version of DOOM have you feeling ‘I’m Too Young To Die’ or ‘Ultra Nightmare?’ Let us know in the comments below!
