We’ve all got that niece or nephew who’s super goth, or that brother or uncle who is just way into death metal, or had that lifetime subscription to Fangoria magazine. Well, now there’s the perfect birthday or Christmas gift for them, if you’ve got the money that is.
An Australian artist who goes by the name ‘Andy’ (no last name given) and who runs a website called Jack of the Dust has created a series of decorated skulls that are jaw-droppingly beautiful, each intricately designed and painted, and many based on pop culture icons like Iron Man, Batman, Darth Maul, Freddy Krueger, the T-800 from the Terminator franchise, and many, many others.
According to the site, all the pieces are supposedly âbased on a premium European-grade PVC plastic human anatomy skull, moulded off a real human skull.â You know, in case you were worried they were the real thing or something. (Hey, it’s the internet, stranger things have happened.)
Each of the skulls run anywhere from $200 to over $1000. Some of the custom skulls he’s created are DC Comics’ Deathstroke, Spawn, Maleficent, Avatar (as in “The Last Airbender”, not blue James Cameron aliens) Marvel’s Ultron, Deadpool, and Red Skull (duh) Darth Vader, the ancient god Cthulhu from the writings of H.P. Lovecraft, Frank the bunny from Donnie Darko, and maybe the coolest of them all, Walter White from Breaking Bad. Check out our gallery below of some of his work, and be sure to go to his website to see the rest, they are all worth a look.
