Halloween makes people do crazy things, and this definitely extends to parents. Like this father for example. Ryan Bowen (AKA theKylenator) spent a month making a massive mech warrior costume out of cardboard boxes, zip ties, foam board, velcro wraps and toilet paper tubes. Then for dramatic and comedic effect, he positioned his six-month-old son Geraint inside to give the impression that the machine is piloted by an adorable baby. The costume covers the bulk of Ryan’s body, so it really works.

To give you some context, MechWarrior is a series of combat video games based in the fictional universe of BattleTech. They kind of resemble transformers, as you can see in the video (which is probably the cutest thing you’ll see all week). It features Ryan doing his own sound effects which adds to the excitement, and cements his reputation as a super-cool dad who made the ultimate father/son Halloween costume. Will his son be too young to remember it, though? Hmm, we won’t worry about that.

Ryan’s awesomeness is confirmed when his wife Cassandra tells him, “it’s pretty cool babe.” She told Gossip Cop that he had had plans to make this sophisticated costume for a while. “My husband had this costume planned for several years, long before we had a child. The inspiration was a computer game he played in high school. When we found out we were having a baby, he got to work. Ryan sketched out the rough designs probably two months before Geraint was born.” That’s dedication right there!
