This 8-Bit JURASSIC PARK Is Better Than Most of the Games Were

The pixelated Picassos over at Cinefix have done it again with their latest edition of 8-Bit Cinema! In honor of the release of Jurassic World, they’ve outdone themselves – and improved their graphics a bit –  with the telling of Jurassic Park in just under 3 minutes.

Admitting it’s technically closer to 32-bit, Cinefix gives us something that is on par with the Sega and SNES iterations of the Jurassic Park world. I am of course referring to the Dr. Grant play-throughs, since almost nothing can compare to how amazing it was to play in Raptor mode. In this video, the “control,” so to speak, is given to multiple characters during the Isla Nublar adventure. While Hammond’s game objective of “Convince your visitors to endorse Jurassic Park” seems a bit simple, keep in mind most games start out with a tutorial mode. The “game” switches gears and lets loose the real adventure/scarring-dinosaur-infused reason for therapy (the kids at the very least had to have been screwed up for life) to  other characters like Lex, Tim, and Doctors Grant and Sattler. There’s even a game warden Muldoon mode where I can only assume the objective is to be outsmarted and eaten by the cleverest of velociraptor girls.

Cinefix continually churns out fun stuff and it’s clear they show real fandom for the source material with all the things they include. Their 8-bit Shawshank Redemption had so many hilarious bits and their take on Jurassic Park is no different. We get to see a warning/scolding by a pixelated Dennis Nedry (and witness his comeuppance in the credits of the video) as well as shots of both Samuel L. Jackson’s Ray Arnold and B.D. Wong’s Dr. Henry Wu. Speaking of Dr. Wu, how in the hell is he still working at Jurassic World? He’s in the new movie and you’d think messing up the whole “we’ve engineered them that way” mistake with frog DNA causing the death of – well, let’s face it – hundreds of people over 3 movies, would have gotten him the boot. InGen labor unions must have some crazy rules.

What do you think of Cinefix’s 8-bit Jurassic Park? Do you have a good reason Dr. Wu would still be working in a field he so royally sucked at? Let us know in the comments below or debate me on this issue on Twitter.
