Things Get Sticky in Clip for PSYCHO PASS: THE MOVIE (Exclusive)

If science fiction has proven anything to us, it’s that when technology purports to finally have put an end to crime and violence, you can bet you’re not far from all the crime and violence happening all the time everywhere. But that’s what makes it sci-fi and not all-the-time-truth. Where something like Minority Report showed us what would happen if specific crimes could be stopped before they happen, the anime Psycho-Pass gives us a world where people with even the potential to be criminals are arrested, if not out-right zapped. The police use a weapon called a Dominator which determines when deadly force is necessary (hint: it’s often necessary).

The original series of Psycho-Pass ran from 2012-2013 with a second, shorter series airing in 2014. Now, fans can look forward to the continuing adventures of Inspector Akane Tsunemori as she attempts to get deeper into the mystery of the Sibyl System in a futuristic Japan in Psycho-Pass: The Movie. Japan has sold its crime-prevention technology to other countries and everything seems great…for a bit. Terrorists from one of the other countries begin coming into Japan undetected and have somehow found a way to avoid being targeted by the system. But Tsunemori’s investigation into how this is happening leads her to a face-off with an old ally.

In the above clip from the movie, we see just how deadly the Dominators are—and how picky they are about who they shoot and with what level of severity. The moral of your life should be never to give a Dominator cause to make you engorge and explode in grotty, bloody fashion.

Before Psycho-Pass: The Movie makes its way to your home, FUNimation and Fathom Events is giving fans two nights only to see the film on the big screen. Tuesday March 15 and Wednesday March 16 in select cinemas only, you can see this new classic in the anime genre in all its dark and disturbing glory.

Ticket information can be found at FUNimation’s Psycho-Pass site here.
