Things Get Dark in the First AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Trailer

Update: Looks like S.H.I.E.L.D.’s IT department was fast on the uptake. The video has been taken down for now. At least there’s always next week’s episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.!

Update 2: Jarvis is back online! Marvel went ahead and posted the trailer on their YouTube, so we’ve re-posted it below!

Oh my stars and garters, you guys. Though the first trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron wasn’t set to air until next week’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. broadcast, agents of Hydra have managed to leak it on to the Internet, and suffice to say, it looks absolutely bonkers. From what I’ve gathered, this is very similar to what was aired during Marvel’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con, albeit with a slightly different ending and some extended scenes. That being said, we’ve been hearing for a while now that this film would be one of Marvel’s darkest yet, and it looks like that was the understatement of the year. There’s explosions galore, a teaser for a long-awaited battle teased in the concept art, and our first glimpse at James Spader, who is perfectly creepy as Ultron. But don’t take my word for it — see for yourself:

[I’ll just let you know that it gave us our first glimpse of Ultron confronting the Avengers, ranting about how they claim to defend the world while others pull their strings. Explosions! Hulkbuster armor! Sad Bruce Banner! Scarlet Witch screaming possibly because Hot Topic is closed! Tony Stark apologizing for causing all of this! More explosions! Thor lifting up his teammate by the throat! Dozens of Ultrons scaling a building! Another, way creepier glimpse of Ultron with eerily human-like eyes!]

Holy snacks, you guys. May 1, 2015 cannot get here soon enough.

Here is the official synopsis for Avengers: Age of Ultron

Marvel Studios presents “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.

Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” stars Robert Downey Jr., who returns as Iron Man, along with Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. Together with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and with the additional support of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, the team must reassemble to defeat James Spader as Ultron, a terrifying technological villain hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they confront two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Pietro Maximoff, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and meet an old friend in a new form when Paul Bettany becomes Vision. Written and directed by Joss Whedon and produced by Kevin Feige, Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963. Get set for an action-packed thrill ride when The Avengers return in Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” on May 1, 2015.

  1. Looks like Thor got laid out next to Cap’s broken shield…I say Ultron will take the Emmy for best villain next year.

The song featured all the way through this trailer is “There are no strings on me” from ‘Pinocchio”. Is Marvel Films run by Disney now?

  6. water says:

did anyone’s nipples get hard when they saw the hulk-buster armor?

  7. Marvel fan says:

I wonder if the good guys will loose in age of Ultron? Who is to say Ultron will not be in Captain America 3?
Could this be Marvels Empire Strikes back? Could the film end with a world in choas ready for Captain America 3 and Ant man, heck and all the films leading to Avengers 3?
So much for Thanos if that’s the case, but I’d love for a truly terrifying villain at last from Marvel and it would give me faith in Thanos being another ground breaking villain in ten years time 😉

  8. Mkymnzns says:

Where the hell is Dr. Pym? He’s the one who created Ultron, not Ironman! WTF!? Falcon is also no where to be found and why the hell are Magneto’s kids in this?

Although i know this is a movie and are usually different from original stories but i hate how they bastardized the Marvel world story line.

    • Nich Hustler says:

What story line? You mean the one where Marvel has multiple universes that are all a little different from each other? The one where this is just one of those different universes?

      Easy tiger.

  9. Blank says:

Ultron looks like Marvel’s best villain yet
