These STAR WARS BB-8 Cupcakes Get a Thumbs Up

Aside from R2-D2, there’s no droid in Star Wars history that has stolen fan’s hearts quite like BB-8. No hard feelings, R4-A22, but any companion of both Poe Dameron and Rey is alright in our book. In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, this rolling bot is so lovable, it’s hard not be inspired to create one of your own. So it makes sense that BB-8 has become a muse for crafts and recipes throughout the fan universe.

BB-8’s spherical shape is unique, which lends itself to some pretty creative crafting. These sweet droid cupcakes by Baking Mischief are a triumph of frosting and fondant. Although stationary, the rotund shape makes this rolly astromech cupcake feel as if could be mobile at any moment. If you’re a novice baker, not to worry: instructions for these little cakes are laid out with easy to follow step-by-step directions.

The body of the droid-cake is a regular cupcake with domed frosting covered in white fondant, while the head is made of a mini cupcake, covered in the same manner. Everyone knows the most delicious part of any droid are the scopes or eyes, because they’re all made with chocolate chips. It’s true, check the Star Wars Visual Dictionary. Ok, perhaps I made that up but as far as these cupcakes are concerned, the chocolate adds a sweet touch.

Once orange and silver details are piped with icing, these sugary cakes are ready to roll!
