There’s Now a Video Game Where You Can Be a Cat

Everybody wants to be a cat, and soon, they’ll be able to, thanks to a developing video game in which the player takes control of a cat and navigates a futuristic city.

The game, currently titled HK, is very early in its development, so not much is known about it just yet. HK‘s creators posted a Q&A to the game’s development blog, and here’s what we can tell you: The third-person solo adventure game is set in a dystopian city inspired by Kowloon Walled City. Although it is set in “an indefinite period,” it appears to take place in the somewhat distant future, given the presence of humanoid robots as seen in game screenshots.

The development team, which consists of “two humans and two cats” from the south of France, say the game will be released on PC (“and maybe PS4/Xbox1/CPC6128/Atari2600/…”), but not for a while. They’re still in pre-production and research and development stages now, so they “need few more years to make what we want,” and the game won’t receive an early access release.

Even though the game isn’t that far along, it looks like they’ve done a pretty solid job getting the cat’s movements looking pretty realistic, as seen in this update clip from January:

Based on this impressive first photo of the game, which was shared back in October 2015, it also appears that the game will use Unreal Engine 4, which people have previously used to create some pretty amazing things:

If that has you as excited as it does us, keep up with the game’s progress on its development blog (or on Facebook and Twitter).
