There Is Now a POKÉMON GO Dating Service

It’s finally happened: Pokémon GO has officially taken over every aspect of society. It’s helping with law enforcement, it will have its own panel at this year’s Comic-Con, and it brings people together by the thousands. Now, though, the game is hoping to create some more meaningful human connections—ones fueled (*puts on cool-guy sunglasses*) by love.

As of today, there is now a Pokémon GO-focused dating service called Pokédates. It works like this: You enter some basic info about yourself, and you tell the site what times are your prime Pokémon hunting hours. Then the site pairs you up with another player, giving you a time and place (near a PokéStop or a gym, obviously). You get out there and make memories you and your date will tell your children about.

Pokédates isn’t a new service started from scratch, as it exists on the back of Project Fixup, which creates all of its matches by eschewing algorithms and using real life human employees to pair users off with each other… you know, like a traditional fixup you reluctantly go along with because your friends set it up. Still, sometimes those types of connections blossom into long, fruitful relationships, so you never know.

Sign-up is free and so is your first PokéDate (using promo code “POKEDATES2016”), but subsequent meetings will run you $20 each. That might seem like a bit much, but $20 is also a pretty cheap date. If you’re ready to dive in and catch ’em all the one that matters, check out PokéDates here.
