Back in July, a report suggested that the Wonder Woman solo movie would start rolling this fall. However, Wonder Woman producer Deborah Snyder has now confirmed that the film will begin production in November.
âWe still wanted a female director and we found Patty Jenkins, who had the right vision and the same vision that we had for the character,â said Snyder while making an appearance at the Geena Davis Institute. âWeâre really happy that weâre going to be going into production in November, itâs been a really great process. Weâve tried to hire as many female members of the crew as possible.â
Gal Gadot is starring in the film as Wonder Woman, but she will making her first appearance in character during Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice early next year. Thus far, only Chris Pine (Star Trek) has been cast opposite Gadot in the Wonder Woman movie. Pine will portray Steve Trevor, the longtime love interest of Wonder Woman a.k.a. Princess Diana of the Amazons.
Very little is known about the Wonder Woman film’s story, although some rumors have placed the movieâs time frame in World War II. Since Diana doesnât age the way that normal humans do, her unchanged appearance in Batman v Superman would simply reflect her near-immortality.
Prior to the Wonder Woman movie, the characterâs biggest multimedia splash came in the Wonder Woman TV series starring Lynda Carter. In 2011, NBC commissioned a Wonder Woman TV pilot written and directed by David E. Kelley with Adrianne Palicki in the title role. However, NBC passed on the project and the Wonder Woman pilot has only been seen as a bootleg online and at comic conventions.
The Wonder Woman movie will storm into theaters on June 23, 2017.
